Dunk Episode 15: Haider and Minal’s Marriage Is Set To Take Place

“Dunk” started off as a story based on a false sexual assault allegation, but as the story has progressed, it’s turned into a romance-revenge track. The cast of “Dunk” includes Noman Ejaz, Bilal Abbas Khan, Sana Javed, Azekah Daniel, Fahad Sheikh, Shahood Alvi, Saife Hassan and many others. The show has been produced by Fahad Mustafa’s Big Bang Entertainment, directed by Badar Mehmood and written by Mohsin Talat. At present, the story has taken an intense turn as Amal has set her plan in motion, convincing Minal to marry Haider – the perfect stage for revenge.

In episode 15, Minal (Azekah Daniel) informs her brother and sister-in-law of her decision to marry Haider. The two are shocked and wonder why she would want to – but she demands they support her decision. Haider (Bilal Abbas Khan) himself is surprised by Minal’s desire to marry him. He informs her that he has no happiness to give, so why would she force herself into a miserable situation? However, later, the two are seen seriously thinking over the prospect of getting married.

What’s ludicrous in all of this is after Haider announces his desire to marry Minal to his family, why do they insist on conducting family discussions and meetings in front of Amal (Sana Javed)? Can this family not discuss their own personal issues with their son without her presence? Even without knowing Amal’s sociopathic personality, any logical person would know not to pour salt on the wounds of the girl who was meant to marry Haider since childhood. However, this all works in Amal’s favor as she poisons Haider’s family against him, telling them he rejected her so he could marry Minal.

Haider is growing increasingly aware of Amal’s manipulations though, particularly after his father states that he has come to talk to him on Amal’s “sifaarish,” painting Amal as a saintly woman. He confronts Amal with the same, telling her to take this “pure” face somewhere else, because he no longer believes it. He tells her she can fool everyone else, but she won’t be able to hide from God. Amal is a unique character, because all her manipulations and desire for revenge aside, Amal does feel. She is seen as distraught internally after hearing Haider’s decision to marry Minal. And yet, she’s so convinced in her own lies and deceit that she can stare Haider directly in the eyes, telling him that God knows her true intentions and the cleanliness of her soul. We all know this is a joke – and so does Haider. But Amal has more pawns in this game than one would like. Amal is slowly turning Safeer (Fahad Sheikh) against Haider, not through her words, rather it’s her act of sweetness that she uses as her weapon, manipulating others into getting her way. Safeer sees only her tears, feeling as though Haider is mistreating her every step of the way, even after rejection.

While Minal and Haider’s marriage may be yet another one of Amal’s self-serving manipulations, from a viewer’s perspective, Minal and Haider would make great life partners. They have been supportive of each other as friends and share a warm bond, one of genuine caring and trust. Their greatest battle after marriage will be to distance themselves from Amal and convince Haider’s family that they never had an “affair.” But is this possible? Or are they playing right into Amal’s trap, destroying their own reputations? Minal is set to become yet another pawn in Amal’s plan, as we see in the previews how Amal plots to turn Minal against Haider. Bilal Abbas Khan and Azekah Daniel share really sweet chemistry together and it’s difficult not to root for this couple.

To make matters worse, now Saira (Yasra Rizvi) has begun to face the taunts of those in the neighborhood, targeting not only her, but her daughter Ghana as well. While Haider comes to her defense, this only makes matters worse with the neighbors questioning Saira’s character. With the Minal-Haider marriage not even signed and sealed yet, is this story headed into an uncomfortable direction? Will Haider, ultimately, marry Saira as well? And if so, would that be a good twist or a terrible one? From this angle, it would feel terribly cliched and forced, so let’s hope it’s a stretch of the imagination and remains that way. In this episode, Sana Javed performs incredibly well (as always), Amal’s sociopathic behavior coming to the forefront, her sinister expression revealing itself only for a moment before it’s covered up by her rehearsed innocence. Sana Javed is underrated as an actress and she proves it with each performance. Bilal Abbas Khan is, as always, wonderful! He plays the tortured Haider with conviction, showing how he wrestles not only with his own identity, but struggles to be faithful to himself and his beliefs as he continues to conceal Amal’s reality from his family. But for how long? Where is his breaking point? It seems we will start to see exactly that in the next episode!
