Dushman E Jaan Episode 23: Haatim Wins Hearts In a Positive Episode

Dushman E Jaan” continues to go from strength to strength. Just yesterday, I found myself apprehensive about the track “Dushman E Jaan” was set to take and expressed it in my review. The show seemed set for misunderstandings to be created between Haatim (Mohib Mirza) and Rubaab (Madiha Imam). However, in a pleasant surprise to viewers, the latest episode depicts how Haatim has changed himself for the better and not only trusts his wife, but also understands the manipulations of outside forces in their lives.

Episode 23 opens with Haatim questioning Rubaab about her silence after their return from her father’s house, elaborating on what her father told him about silence never coming between spouses. He asks her to confide in him if there is a problem. Rubaab thinks this over and, the next morning, calls Zaheer and tells him she believes he misunderstood the situation – but before he can respond, Haatim overhears and confronts Rubaab. The two have an honest discussion about the situation and Haatim voices his wonder as to why Zaheer would want to ruin his marriage. Within one episode, Haatim confronts Zaheer (and exposes his actions to Rukhsana and his parents), Raina and Kamaal, his own father. This is an action-packed episode and is beautiful in the way that Haatim and Rubaab’s relationship is presented. Haatim’s love for Rubaab is not fickle or mistrusting. He does not doubt her and neither play the blame game. Their misunderstandings are not dragged on and it’s nice to see how Haatim squashes the interference of troublemakers.

The confrontation scene between Kamaal (Imran Peerzada) and Haatim is powerful, particularly how Haatim lays it all out on the table, highlighting his upbringing and how unloved he felt growing up. He tells his father that he now has that love and disowns Kamaal for his actions while maintaining his relationship with Fiza (Saba Hameed). Mohib Mirza owns this scene as Haatim really lets his parents (and viewers) know what he went through due to their neglect. Mohib Mirza is an actor who has only gotten better with time. While Kamaal initially seems to believe he is right, he is later seen regretting his decisions and tries to get information on Haatim through Fiza. Fiza, however, has been forbidden to share any information with Kamaal, so Kamaal is unaware that Rubaab is expecting a child. Haatim and Rubaab’s happy moments are shown during this period and it must be said that Madiha Imam and Mohib Mirza share wonderful chemistry. They have brought Haatim and Rubaab’s love story to life.

Rubaab gives birth to a baby boy at the end of the episode, leaving Haatim overjoyed. Episode 23 is a strong episode that gives viewers exactly what they want to see – trust and happiness in a relationship. It’s ironic that a character like Haatim initially was at the receiving end of scorn from viewers with many (myself included) believing Haatim was not worthy of forgiveness. Cut to the present – no one would have imagined we’d all end up rooting for this love story to this extent. With Haatim now settled in his family life with Rubaab and a child, the revealing of his involvement in Ramsha’s murder will come as an even greater blow. One thing is for sure; with only a handful of episodes left, the pace of “Dushman E Jaan” shows no chance of slowing down.
