Expo 2020 Dubai: Pakistan Pavilion Handed Over to Authorities In Official Ceremony

In rather exciting news, work on Pakistan’s Expo 2020 Dubai Pavilion has finally been completed, and handed over to Pakistani authorities in an official ceremony on Sunday. The event took place at Expo 2020 Dubai and witnessed a bevy of bigwigs in attendance, including Advisor to Prime Minister Imran Khan on Commerce & Investment Abdul Razak Dawood, Secretary Ministry of Commerce Muhammad Sualeh Ahmed Faruqui, Ambassador of Pakistan to UAE Afzaal Mahmood and Secretary Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Ahsan Ali Mangi, among a few others.

 

Omar Shehadeh, Chief International Participants Officer at Expo 2020 Dubai, Ahmed Al Khatib, Chief Development and Delivery Officer at Expo 2020 Dubai and Ahmed Al Hamdan, Country Manager for Pakistan at Expo 2020 Dubai were also present.

The pavilion, which costed a whopping Dh77 million to build, is situated in the ‘Opportunity District’ and has a total covered area of 35,000 Sqft. The inner journey of the pavilion is set under the theme ‘Pakistan: The Hidden Treasure’ with an aim to enhance tourism, commerce and investment in Pakistan, reported Emirates News Agency.

Following a postponement due to the coronavirus pandemic, Expo 2020 is now scheduled to be held from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022. It will be held under the theme of “Connecting Minds, Creating the future”. The entire area is divided into three main districts; Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability. Pakistan is gripped with plans to host trade and investment seminars and conferences, cultural shows and events during the six-month long exhibition.

“Pakistan is bestowed with natural beauty, historical and religious sites, highest peaks and calm deserts. It is the destination for mountaineers, historians, archaeologists, writers, photographers and many such tourists,” said Dawood during the event. “Through our theme at Expo 2020 Dubai, we plan to present and showcase the land of opportunities to promote tourism, commerce and investment in the country,” he added. Pakistan thanked the UAE’s leadership and Expo 2020 authorities for their support through the completion of the pavilion.
