Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry thinks Atif Aslam should lead opposition rally

Just when we thought 2020 couldn’t get any stranger, the Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has made a suggestion which has left many humoured. The minister has on many occasions engaged audiences with his sarcasm and quick-witted responses. Whether you love him or hate him, he’s here to stay and of course, will always have the last word.

The minister has never held back from speaking his mind and in a recent talk show he took a jibe at the opposition in his unique style. He had suggested, much to our surprise, that the PML-N invite popular singer Atif Aslam to lead its rally instead of the party’s Vice President Maryam Nawaz; if it really wants to get a crowd going at their rallies.

The suggestion was made by the minister during a talk show on a private news channel after another panellist said that Maryam Nawaz had been chosen to lead the rally as opposed to Shahbaz Sharif as she is a “crowd puller”. His remarks came in response to when it was said that her uncle Shahbaz Sharif was a more seasoned politician but not being asked to lead rallies.

“If we look at our political party and we go to [our] political rallies, it’s a fact. If she is a crowd puller, then we want our party to be led by a person, [whose] rallies are attended by people who want to leave their homes [for her] and do not have to be invited. She is a crowd puller,” PML-N’s Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha.

In a rhetorical response, Chaudhry immediately responded by saying, “Why don’t you invite Atif Aslam?” referring to the Aadat singer’s ability to get a crowd going.

We wonder what Atif Aslam thinks of entering politics!
