Ghisi Piti Mohabbat: The Finale Wraps Up All Loose Ends In an Applause-Worthy Manner

“Ghisi PIti Mohabbat” is a show that has kept viewers hooked from beginning to end. Tackling society’s double-stands and highlighting many cliches viewers have seen time and time again in dramas, “Ghisi Piti Mohabbat” is power-packed with hard-hitting dialgoues all while maintaining a light-hearted, humorous feel. This is hard to manage, considering the many times our female lead, Samiya, is burdened with grief, but the writer-director duo in Faseeh Bari Khan and Ahmad Bhatti manage to pull it off convincingly. But does the finale wrap up all loose ends and wrap up in a way that’s satisfactory to its dedicated fan base? Absolutely!

The finale shows Uzair (Danial Afzal) and Samiya (Ramsha Khan) moving ahead with their relationship and even discussing marriage. It’s been seen from the beginning that despite Samiya being independent and a bread-earner for her family, she is always searching for a relationship, a man to support her emotionally. Once again, Samiya has fallen for Uzair, enjoying his attention – as she did with Basharat – and hoping her fourth marriage will be her last. It’s normal for girls to have dreams of a happy ending, but what is that happy ending exactly? Does marriage guarantee a happy ending?

Not in Samiya’s case and it’s made clear that a marriage to Uzair is certainly not going to be her happily ever after when he begins showing an interest in and having an affair with his actress client. Samiya leaves this relationship with dignity as well, telling Uzair he should have just been honest with her instead of avoiding her and walks away. Karma does come for Uzair when he’s rejected by the woman he left Samiya for. Uzair’s character has also been well-written in the sense that he’s a man who is obsessive with his love – but his love wears off and moves to the next person with equal intensity. Samiya shares a really sweet moment with her father where he places the decision for marriage in her hands, but tells her that it’s not necessary to rely on others and chase after half-baked dreams. This plants a seed in Samiya’s mind and, after being burned by another flirtatious employer, she sets out to better herself and open her own business. Everything about this change in track is beautiful, whether it’s the task of having her stall built (this uncle is really sweet) to her choice of hired help (needy and hardworking transgenders) to her slow path to success. Samiya deserves this and her success brings the viewer to tears. Samiya finally realizes her own self-worth and recognizes that her failed relationships have made her the person she is – but she no longer has to continue trying to be someone she isn’t. Rather, she chooses her career over love and begins the journey to understanding and loving herself.

To love someone else, you must first love yourself. This is the message “Ghisi Piti Mohabbat” leaves viewers with. It’s rare that a drama gets everything right from start to finish, but “Ghisi Piti Mohabbat” pulls through. There’s even a clever dialogue at the end, poking fun at how viewers complain about more meaningful drama episodes, saying the show is dragging while appreciating action-packed ones. Ramsha Khan is the heart and soul of this show and she takes on this challenge headfirst and emerges a winner. She has always been talented, but with Samiya, Ramsha Khan has proved her power as an actress. The supporting cast is also wonderful, whether it’s Wahaj Ali, Ali Abbas, Samina Ahmed, Saba Faisal and so forth– they are all just such a strong, talented ensemble cast and each actor has had their part to play in the success of this show. If there’s any complaint, it’s that Asmaara and Shoaib are missing in action entirely in this finale, but as their story has technically been wrapped up, it’s excusable. This is a show with intelligent writing and a strong sense of direction, so both Faseeh Bari Khan and Ahmad Bhatti deserve a round of applause. Overall, “Ghisi Piti Mohabbat” has emerged as one of the best shows of 2020-2021 and is one of the few perfect products, shows without a single flaw, to come out of the Pakistani industry this past year.
