How To Get A Sunkissed Glow Without Going To The Beach This Summer

Normally, summer would mean long nights strolling along the beach, watching sunsets, swimming in the ocean, drinking cocktails and wearing your favourite summer dresses but since the spread of the Coronavirus, vacations seem like a dream and the beaches in your city may be off limits. Which means less time spent outdoors and perhaps not getting the sunkissed glow you get every summer.

If the thought of not being able to head to the beach and getting your tan on is bringing you down, then fret not; we’ve got you. You can still get a gorgeous glow from the comfort of your home for all those quarantine selfies and Zoom video calls, here’s how!

Opt for a self-tan mousse

Faking a sunkissed glow isn’t too difficult when you have a wide variety of options available. Opt for a self-tanner which is great for so many reasons. Self-tanners don’t leave behind the awkward streaks and scent. You just apply and let the tan develop. A self-tanner usually develops within four hours, which isn’t a long time to wait if you’e just staying indoors.

Replace foundation with tinted BB cream

What’s been great about staying indoors is the reduced need for wearing makeup. But should you feel the need to wear some, then why not opt instead for a tinted BB cream which is sure to give you a warm glow without feeling cakey. Not only will it cover any blemishes, scars and sun spots, but it will also bring a warm radiance to your complexion.

Use a mattifying bronzer

While a bronzer is every makeup enthusiast’s holy grail product, a bronzer is especially great in the summer for that added glow. Opt for a smooth, matte formula, like Benefit’s Hoola bronzer which doubles up as a bronzer and can also be used for contouring. Use all over for a sunkissed glow and look like you’ve just spent the day on the beach soaking up the sun.

Use a bronze palette

Getting a bronzed glow doesn’t and shouldn’t just stop at your cheeks. Why not bring that sunkissed finish to your eyelids as well? If you have a bronze palette lying around, why not take your look up a notch and add some colour to your lids? Opt for a warmer hue than the one used on your cheeks and instantly look more sunkissed than before.

Top up with a highlighter

Once you’re done giving yourself that gorgeous glow, why not opt for a shimmery highlighter to complete the look? Add some highlighter to the top of your cheekbones for that strip of reflective shine to perfectly fake having been out in the sun all day. The great thing about a shimmery highlighter is that you can apply a light touch to your cheekbones or layer up generously for an intense glow.

Replace your lipstick with a gloss

Lipstick can be quite heavy, especially during the summer months and more so when you’re spending most of your time indoors. Replace your lippy (we know it’s hard) with a gloss to let your natural lip colour shine through. Lipgloss is also a winner while indoors because there’s no wind for all that hair to get stuck on that pout!

Give it a go and enjoy that (fake) sunkissed glow all summer long, until you can actually head to a beach.
