Iffat Omar’s Another Clip Goes Viral: Check Out Why

Iffat Omar is no new face in Pakistan’s entertainment circuit. She enjoyed her fair share of glory in her heydays, kicking off her career as a supermodel in the late 1980s and eventually taking the plunge into acting. Known for her sense of style and charming personality, Omar garnered a massive fan following in a short span of time. She then turned TV host with her very own show ‘Say It All With Iffat Omar’. Earlier this year, while talking to her guests and actors Ali Rehman and Hareem Farooq on the show, Omar made a shocking revelation where she confessed to veteran actor Rahat Kazmi being her first crush back in the day.

A clip from her conversation with the two stars has now resurfaced on the internet and the starlet is being called out for reasons more than one. In the short snippet, Omar can be seen telling Rehman and Farooq about the different ways in which she would try to grab Kazmi’s attention while they were working together on Nangay Paon. Many have come forward to slam Omar for it, calling her a fake devotee of the #MeToo movement.

Here is what TV anchor Mubasher Lucman had to say:

Others lashed out at Omar for not practicing what she preaches. They cited the example of her being a vocal supporter of Meesha Shafi when she came out with harassment allegations against singer Ali Zafar. Phir baad Mein ghalat touch hoga feel hogya tu #MeToo k piche bhagengi! Same what Meesha Shafi did and she’s the biggest supporter of Meesha. Till now still she blames Ali for harassing with 0 facts.”

Another post read, “Reverse the gender and see the outrage.” It evidently threw shade at the #MeToo campaign (which Omar was at the forefront of) once again. Reposting the same clip of Omar speaking on her show, show host and producer Ovais Mangalwala penned, “If this was said by a man, he would have lost all respect and everyone would have been cursing him. But coming from a lady, why is everyone just enjoyong it? Is this not “Me Too”?”

Journalist and motivational speaker Maleeha Hashmey expressed grave disapppoinment in Omar. She wrote, “Remember how Iffat ridiculed me for “exposing” Aurat March and now she’s exposing the MISUSE of the #MeToo movement herself.” A user dug out one of Omar’s previous tweets where she disapproved of Zafar being presented with the Pride of Performance Award earlier this year. “Only in Pakistan an alleged harasser gets an award backed by the Govt. Nowhere else in 21st century. #PakistanZindabad,” she posted on August 17. Pinning her tweet and adding her viral clip from the show, the user captioned it, “Ehm cough Ehm!”
