Iman Ali’s Old Interview Resurfaces On Twitter: Former Supermodel Slammed For Feminism Remarks

Iman Ali faced flak earlier this year for her allegedly condescending comments regarding the current state of the modelling industry. While appearing on Iffat Omar’s talk show, the former supermodel called out the models of today for not having adequate general knowledge and not being able to speak well. Mushk Kaleem – a popular face in the industry – lashed out at Iman for her comments at the time, saying “I don’t understand how a senior artist/model/ actress like Iman Aly can make such a condescending statement about the current models of our industry.” Another one of Iman’s clips from the show is now going viral on the internet, with many Twitter users expressing dismay over her remarks on feminism.

Iman started off with, “See, the definition (of feminism) unfortunately, I should not be talking about this because again, this is going to be super politically incorrect. First, I think we should understand what feminism is. Feminism, to me, is to celebrate being a woman. Women trying to portray or become like men cannot be feminism because then you are negating your whole celebrating your womanhood. So, trying to become a man is not feminism.” She then weighed in on her definition of ‘actorism’, adding, “If a female actor demands the same fee as male actors, then that is actorism, not feminism. If you are as good as your male actor at your job, you deserve to be paid as much as your male actor.”

During her exchange with Iffat, Iman continued, “Feminism is not being portrayed correctly in the world, we are not getting it right. We are just annoying everyone now. Make them understand instead.”

The actor added how women would not be insulted if they confessed that they love cooking, with Iffat responding with, “If you love to cook! That should not be made your duty. Men can cook too. It shouldn’t be obligatory for women to cook. If she doesn’t want to cook, she should be given enough voice to object and ask for a cook.” Not one to hold back, Iman shared, “Then it’s like saying when men don’t feel like working or going to their jobs. It is like he doesn’t want to earn and feed the whole family or take sole responsibility for it. But that’s a loophole in socialism. ” Many Twitter users have now slammed Iman for her comments.

“Classiest actor of Pakistani film industry for you,” penned a user, while another added, “This whole interview was a whole new level of cringe but this part and the comments of attention deprived boys under are just fascinating.” Another questioned, “Loooool do people actually think feminists want to become men?” A tweeted read, “There’s too much to celebrate kahan se shuru karoon? cat calling se? Unwanted gaze se ya seniors kay indecent behavior se.” Calling out Iman for her comments on actorism, one user retorted, “Gender pay gap isn’t actorism, it’s inequality. Feminism isn’t dictating women in their affairs it is about leaving the matters in her own hand. Please know what feminism is before making a clown outta yourself on public TV.”

Taking a dig at Iman, a user wrote, “At 0:44 we get to witness the historic moment the term ACTOR-ism was coined by Iman Ali.” Another added, “She started off so well and ended so bad. YES, celebrate being a woman. NO women do not make themselves zaleel for feminism. Feminism has no standard manual to follow. Everyone has their own battle. For me, I want my husband to help me at home because I financially help him at his par. I totally support EQUAL workload between men and women. If a woman stays home, she should take care of the house while the man earns but if the woman wants to work because she is equally educated, she shouldn’t be stopped because she is a woman. That is my view.”
