Is “Aye Musht E Khaak” Headed Back on Track With Episode 29?

“Aye Musht E Khaak” is a story that intrigued viewers from the beginning.  Whether it was discussing the “religious vs. atheist” angle or simply laughing at the Mustajab memes on social media, this is a drama which kept Pakistani drama fans talking – which only helped the show.  Starring Feroze Khan, Sana Javed, Asad Siddiqui, Danial Afzal, Shahood Alvi, Iffat Omer and many others, the story has been written by Maha Malik and directed by Aehsun Talish.  In recent weeks though, the pace has slowed down and the track with Mustajab attempting to remarry Duaa for “revenge” has become unpalatable.  And yet, this week, the story finally takes an interesting turn once again.

In episode 29, Duaa (Sana Javed) has been torn apart, trying to resign herself to her impending marriage with Taqi (Danial Afzal) while realizing she still deeply loves Mustajab (Feroze Khan).  For his part, Mustajab is still playing a game, winning over Duaa as an almost challenge to himself, refusing to allow her to “belong” to anyone else.  In doing this, he has played a highly manipulative game, even winning over Duaa’s Imam with his “change” towards religion, all of which is a farce.  However, this is exactly what Duaa wanted to see in him, the only reason she ever left him despite loving him, and so, she sees hope in this relationship once again – and with that hope alive, how can she marry anyone else?

What’s interesting with “Aye Musht E Khaak” is that it has forced many to look up the marriage laws of talaaq vs. khulla, so it’s certainly doing its part in educating.  In regards to the story now taking an interesting turn, Dayaan (Asad Siddiqui) now recognizes how forcing Taqi on Duaa has now become an internal dilemma for his sister and is doing exactly the opposite of what he wanted for her.  In this mindset, he encourages Duaa to follow her heart, even if it’s leading her to Mustajab.  The brother-sister duo make a well-intentioned plan, leading Duaa to run away from home and marry Mustajab at the Masjid….while the family is planning her nikkah to Taqi.  Many may say that Duaa is being disobedient and that this is not the way a religious woman behaves, but honestly, aren’t we all human beings?  A woman with a deep attachment to her ex does not always think clearly – and there is nothing wrong religiously with wanting to get remarried.  This will obviously cause an uproar back at home, but even worse, it seems as though tragedy is in store for Duaa and Mustajab.  While Mustajab is not sincere as of yet, it seems this tragedy will be the driving force to push Mustajab towards religion with all sincerity.  However, will Duaa survive this tragedy?  That remains to be seen.

It’s honestly these moments that highlight what a great actor Feroze Khan is.  He has portrayed the role of Mustajab with a certain “swag,” but still with a lot of maturity in regards to the “man” he is playing.  And now, as Mustajab grapples with a different flurry of emotions, it will be a shining moment for Feroze Khan to pull out those acting chops.  While “Aye Musht E Khaak” has been in slow mode recently, this week’s episodes are doing a great job recapturing viewer interest.
