Jaan E Jahan Episode 10: As Shehram Falls for Mahnoor, Emmad Irfani Joins The Cast As a Potential Suitor

Hamza Ali Abbasi and Ayeza Khan are a fan-favorite pairing and with their coming together for “Jaan E Jahan,” all eyes have been on this show from the first episode.  An old-school, sweet, innocent romance, “Jaan E Jahan” is the love story between two incredibly likable characters – and how their bond will go through some trials.  Starring Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ayeza Khan, Asif Raza Mir, Noor Ul Hassan, Savera Nadeem, Haris Waheed, Raza Talish, Srha Asghar, Emmad Irfani, Maryam Nafees, Nawal Saeed, Kinza Malik and Zainab Qayyum, the story is written by Rida Bilal and directed by Qasim Ali Mureed.

In episode 10, Mahnoor and Shehram’s one-sided love story (at least so far) is now in full-swing after Mahnoor arranges a birthday party for Shehram (Hamza Ali Abbasi).  In the sweetest of sequences, we can see that Shehram isn’t used to this kind of affection and attention and this touches his heart deeply.  Of course, Mahnoor being the one to arrange it only makes it more special, something which isn’t lost on Zeenat (Maryam Nafees), who decides to back away from a losing battle.  Meanwhile, Shehram and Mahnoor share a magical moment while taking shelter from the rain with Shehram (mentally) labeling Mahnoor his “Jaan e Jahan.”  We see how naturally Shehram falls for Mahnoor and it’s not quite clear if the feelings are mutual as Mahnoor isn’t as transparent with her feelings.  The way this romance has been written is heartwarming, a pure, innocent love which is developing through the course of natural conversations, kind souls and mutual interests.  Hamza Ali Abbasi simply reminds us with each role why he’s one of our most popular starts despite rarely working.  He exudes natural charisma and an abundance of acting talent.  Of course, Ayeza Khan always does her best to do complete justice to her role and Mahnoor is just the sort of role that feels as though it’s been written for her.  She is confident, natural and, of course, as pretty as can be.  There’s little to criticize on this front other than the fact that we’re all holding our hearts and waiting for the upcoming heartbreak.

There’s an interesting angle that comes into play in episode 10, aside from the love story – which is so beautiful.  Kishwar (Savera Nadeem) meets with her potential to-be “samdhan,” who appears to be a palmist (?).  She tells her that someone in her life will push back against her plans, essentially standing up against her.  Kishwar’s mind immediately goes towards Mahnoor, seeing as how attracted Shehram is to her and how outspoken she is.  Here begins her plotting against Mahnoor who, until that day, was inconsequential to her life.  This twist is reminiscent of Harry Potter in how Voldemort fixates on Harry after a prophecy is made, despite the fact that the prophecy never names Harry.  Likewise, anyone could stand up to Kishwar at any point, but Kishwar already has Shehram’s liking for Mahnoor on her mind and so she mentally decides that Mahnoor needs to be done away with.

Savera Nadeem is playing Kishwar so brilliantly.  While many would’ve played Kishwar as “evil,” complete with negative expressions, Savera takes a different route.  With her trademark bright smile and easy demeanor, Kishwar is wrapped in a pleasant, kind shell for the world to see, including her own family.  However, her internal thoughts and feelings are reserved for herself, hidden in her own mind.  There is a cunning, manipulative mind at work here, the mind of a woman who poisoned her own husband to get what she wanted. And isn’t that the most dangerous sort of person, one who is not easy to read?  Kishwar is always waiting to strike – and it appears that she will take her opportunity to strike next week, wreaking havoc onto Shehram, Mahnoor and the audience’s hearts.

Of course, Tabrez (Haaris Waheed) continues to focus his attention on his employee and with his devious plans, we’re wondering where this storyline is headed.  Will Tabrez somehow have a change of heart and change his ways?  Haaris Waheed is making a great impression in this negative role, but we can only hope he doesn’t remain negative.  Overall, “Jaan E Jahan” continues to be a show that viewers wait for eagerly each week, making the weekend more exciting than it already is.  With the appearance of Emmad Irfani’s character, has Shehram’s heartbreak officially begun?
