“Jalan” seems to have an additional air night and will now be telecast on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Does this mean the show is being rushed along to make way for a new show – or does this mean additional episodes have been added to extend the show? Starring Minal Khan, Emmad Irfani, Fahad Sheikh and Hajra Yamin in lead roles, the story has been written by Sidra Sehar Imran and directed by Aabis Raza. At present in the story, Nisha and Asfandyar have hit a rocky patch while Ahmer has returned to Pakistan and appears to have a plan to avenge Misha’s death.
Episode 22 is fairly straightforward, if not repetitive in parts. Ahmer (Fahad Sheikh) visits Misha’s parents for dinner and while this scene is beautiful, watching how Ahmer cares for his Mamoon and Maami, it’s also a driving point for Ahmer to push his vendetta into gear. It’s clear that Misha’s parents, wonderfully played by Mohammad Ahmed and Sajida Syed, have been torn apart emotionally and are having a hard time supporting each other through it. Ahmer is honored at an event that Nisha (Minal Khan) and Asfandyar (Emmad Irfani) are present at and the two are shocked when Ahmer is announced as a partner in Asfandyar’s company. Nisha’s interest is, of course, immediately piqued and she attempts to chat with Ahmer who seems amused by her interest.
Asfandyar and Nisha’s marriage continues to suffer at home with Nisha neglecting the baby and refusing to do even simple things around the house. Asfand regrets his decision to marry her and even states this after Nisha says she made a mistake marrying him. Of course, Asfand does not get off the hook that easily with viewers, regardless of the turn the show is taking. Nisha is a horrible person and she has certainly done a lot of damage, but Asfandyar has been her partner in it all, indulging every action and behaving badly himself towards Misha and Kinza as well. They are a pair that, quite frankly, deserve each other and the state of their marriage would only make one smirk……if only Nisha didn’t have her sights set on Ahmer again.
Ahmer has become the sole reason “Jalan” remains interesting, as his story is the only angle left worth watching. And yet still, the focus remains on Nisha and Asfandyar and how they are affected by Ahmer. Quite honestly, it would be much more interesting if we could see more interaction between Ahmer and Areej (Hajra Yamin). Considering Ahmer has spent such a little amount of time with his wife, it would be nice to see him noticing the drastic difference between Nisha and Areej and giving Areej the importance she deserves without having to be forced into it.

Instead, we will have to witness a catfight next week between Nisha and Areej, two women fighting over Ahmer despite the fact that one woman is married to him. But how would she even lay claim to that relationship when Ahmer himself never spends any time with her or acknowledges her as his wife. Will this be the nail that pushes Areej over the edge and, as a result, finally brings Ahmer to his senses? Or will Ahmer continue his game with Nisha and Ahmer and will Areej remain an afterthought? It would be disappointing to see the latter, because it would put Ahmer in the same slot as Nisha, being a terrible, inconsiderate partner…..which he already is, but he still has room to make up for it. Regardless, the next episode seems like Hajra Yamin will finally get her moment to shine in a role that hasn’t given her much wiggle room to perform up until now. Fahad Sheikh and Hajra Yamin are the two actors (and roles) that still seem interesting in “Jalan,” otherwise it has become repetitive and predictable at present.
