Jason Mamoa Is Being Eyed For A Key Role In The Witcher: Blood Origin

Streaming giant Netflix achieved great success with The Witcher starring Henry Cavill in the lead. As the markers prepare for the new season, a prequel is already in the works for the Polish-American fantasy drama, based on writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s book series of the same name. The upcoming project will be titled Blood Origin and it is now being reported that actor is being eyed to play the lead in the spin-off series based on The Witcher. While casting has begun for The Witcher: Blood Origin, rumours surrounding the Aquaman star’s casting have not been confirmed yet. However, Mamoa’s fans cannot contain their excitement!

A fan-made poster which sees Momoa alongside Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia is not making the rounds on the internet. The Game of Thrones star shared the picture on his Instagram story, tagging Cavill and writing “What’s up homie”. The series will reportedly be helmed by Declan de Barra and is expected to be a six-part live-action series. It appears that Mamoa has no qualms in working with his friend and the talented actor Cavill either.

Following its enormous popularity amongst audiences, The Witcher fast became one of the largest television series and also the most popular Netflix original. The new series of The Witcher will not be released until 2022, it seems, after the second season of the main story can be seen on the platform. While we don’t know at this point what role Mamoa will play, he is no stranger to the fantasy genre, having spent four years as part of the Stargate Atlantis series and played Khal Drogo in the first season of Game of Thrones. Mamoa also has the second season of See and Aquaman 2 for DC Comics on the cards. Do you think Mamoa is the perfect fit for the role? We surely do!
