Javed Iqbal: Trailer Review

It’s the story of one of the deadliest men Pakistan (or possibly humanity) has ever known. Javed Iqbal, murderer of 100 (or more) children, was found dead in prison in 2001 but tales of his horrendous crimes live on. He had abused over 100 children in Punjab and mutilated their bodies and dissolved them in a vat of acid.

Yasir Hussein has taken the brave task upon himself to portray the serial killer in this eponymously titled film. Written and directed by Abu Aleeha, the film’s trailer portrays all the gritty elements with a voiceover from Javed’s point of view. He wants the world to question why he killed the children, why he was the monster that he was.

Yasir’s look and get up is shaped very well and resembles Javed Iqbal’s very closely. From the matted hair to the bright sweater, the thick-rimmed glasses and the stocky mustache. But that’s not the only resemblance. There is a sinister smile (seen in many of the Javed Iqbal file photos) that Yasir has been able to replicate to a t.

The film also stars Ayesha Omar, Paras Masroor and Rabya Kulsoom and is all set to hit theaters on December 24, 2021. Yasir, in his Instagram post, stated that if the audiences didn’t get goosebumps while watching the trailer, it means they did not understand it.

Yasir Hussein is also set to appear in a comedy-horror film called Peechay Tou Dekho alongwith Nawal Saeed and Aadi Ahmed which is also slated for a 2021 release. The multi-talented actor is also directing a television series for a tv channel starring Mansha Pasha and Fahad Sheikh. Now that cinemas have opened up in Pakistan, looks like there will be plenty of interesting ventures for audiences from the super talented Yasir Hussein.
