Jim Carrey all set to play Joe Biden in next Saturday Night Live stint

One of our favourite actors and comedians, Jim Carrey has been missing in action for some time now. We miss seeing him on the big screen and laughing away as we snack on our popcorn. From major hits like Dumb and Dumber, Liar Liar and Ace Ventura, to even more amusing films like Mr Popper’s Penguins and Fun With Dick and Jane; Jim Carrey has a plethora of films under his belt. And now, the popular actor is all set to take a different route and will be playing Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

The long-running variety show Saturday Night Live (SNL) has locked Jim Carrey to parody the former US Vice President as the show gears up to put a satirical touch on the run-up to Election Day – typically one of the series’ most influential periods, according to Variety. The United States is a few weeks short of their presidential election when patriotism and fervour in the country is at an all-time high.

Jim Carrey is going to be the third person who will play Joe Biden on SNL this year. A former SNL cast member Jason Sudeikis played an affable, loud-talking version of Biden in past seasons, and Woody Harelson took on Biden duties as the show lampooned recent Democratic primary debates. The long-running show has completed 43 seasons and NBC plans to launch the 46th season of “Saturday Night Live” on October 3, the start of five consecutive broadcasts of the program.
