The new decade – 2020 – has not turned out to be as expected for many. From extravagant wedding celebrations to formal birthday parties, big gatherings around the world have come to a standstill following the Covid-19 outbreak across the globe. But one thing is for sure; where there is a will, there is a way! Princess Raiyah of Jordan recently tied the knot with British journalist Ned Donovan in England on Tuesday. The quarantine-style wedding was attended by the loved ones of the couple. “Thank you all for your kind messages on our wedding!” Princess Raiyah tweeted, following the nuptials.
Thank you all for your kind messages on our wedding! While it was originally planned for April in Jordan, the pandemic derailed those plans and it was safer for my husband’s family to hold it in the UK. God willing we look forward to celebrating in Jordan once the situation allows pic.twitter.com/moCMSOxZxp

“While it was originally planned for April in Jordan, the pandemic derailed those plans and it was safer for my husband’s family to hold it in the UK,” Raiyah penned, while posting a shot of the couple making the most of their big day. “God willing we look forward to celebrating in Jordan once the situation allows,” she noted. For those of you who do not know, Donovan is the grandson of all-time famous author Roald Dahl. He converted to Islam recently and is 26 years old. Following embracing Islam, he changed his name to Faris.
He recently revealed on his website that he is currently learning Arabic, although his “Arabic is not very good” and he will “keep trying to improve it”, reported People magazine. Princess Raiyah is the daughter of the late King Hussein of Jordan and Queen Noor of Jordan, who was in attendance. She is the half-sister of King Abdullah II of Jordan. The couple got engaged on October 26, 2019. “The Royal Hashemite Court extends its sincere congratulations to Her Royal Highness Princess Raiyah and to Mr Donovan on this occasion,” read a statement from the Royals at the time. We wish them a great journey ahead and a happily-ever-after married life!
