Several Bollywood celebrities have taken to social media to speak against Rhea Chakraborty’s arrest in connection with a drug case linked to her ex-boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Rhea has been sent to 14-day judicial custody by the magistrate court and her bail plea has also been rejected.
Shortly after her arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), several Bollywood stars including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Vidya Balan, Abhay Deol, Shaheen Bhatt, Huma Qureshi, Shibani Dandekar, Anurag Kashyap and others posted the quote, “Roses are red, violets are blue, let’s smash the patriarchy me and you,” which was seen on the t-shirt Rhea was wearing on Tuesday, the third day of her interrogation with the bureau.
Some supporters also added the hashtag #JusticeForRhea to their posts while Sonam Kapoor added a quote by American novelist Walter Kirn, “Everyone loves a witch hunt as long as it’s someone else’s witch being hunted.”
According to the NCB, Rhea has confessed to her role in procuring, supplying and consuming hard drugs. In its application for judicial custody, the NCB wrote that Rhea was “an active member of the drug syndicate connected with drug supplies,” and added, “It is also clear from the statement that the present respondent [Rhea] used to procure drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput for consumption purpose. The present respondent used to manage finance for drug procurement along with Sushant Singh Rajput.”

Rhea reportedly also took the names of 25 Bollywood celebrities who also consume drugs and had links to the Bollywood drug cartel. Her legal team has however slammed the central agencies over the interrogation and arrest. Her lawyer Satish Manshinde said, “Travesty of Justice. Three central agencies hounding a single woman just because she was in love with a drug addict and was suffering from mental health issues for several years under the care of five leading psychiatrists in Mumbai, who ended up committing suicide due to the consumption of illegally administered medicines and used drugs.”
