Karachi-Based Girl Starts Petition Demanding Johnny Depp’s Return As Jack Sparrow

Countless online petitions demanding justice for Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp have emerged on the internet, ever since the actor lost his libel trial against the British tabloid The Sun’s publishers, which led to his exit from the highly-acclaimed Fantastic Beasts franchise. His fans protested for him to be brought back to the fantasy series, with another petition calling for the removal of Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard from the Aquaman films. What followed was the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s supporters starting various petitions for his return as Jack Sparrow too, claiming that his character made the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced films a soaring success.

Depp has fans world over. And the latest petition going viral is proof of it! A Karachi-based girl named Riza Siddiqui started an online petition on Change.org in March 2020, addressing Walt Disney and Brukheimer. It has now resurfaced on the internet and has been signed by 329, 642 people at the time of writing this article. The goal is to hit 500, 000 signatures.

Siddiqui first started the petition on Instagram earlier this year. She wrote, “A website is claiming that due to the petitions, Disney is considering bringing our Johnny Depp back as Captain Jack Sparrow in the upcoming reboot. If this news is true, I can’t thank all of you enough because this is made possible with thousands of your signatures and sharing.” The petition is titled, ‘We Want Johnny Depp Back As Jack Sparrow’. A description explains, “He has been playing this role since 2003 when we first saw him arriving at the Port Royal in his boat with that epic background music playing. But can you imagine someone else portraying this instead of him? Or no Jack Sparrow at all?” It pleads, “Even if it means nothing to you but please, sign this petition for the ones who REALLY want Johnny Depp as their Captain of the Black Pearl!”
