It’s a day of exciting announcements as Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have welcomed their baby girl earlier today. The Daisies singer gave birth to a baby girl, Daisy Dove Bloom and the singer has been hinting at the name for quite some time now. The couple, who are both Goodwill Ambassadors for the United Nations Children’s Fund, allowed the announcement of the birth to come from the official UNICEF page.
Taking to their official Instagram account, UNICEF posted a lovely monochrome image of three hands being those of Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry and their new arrival and a small daisy can be seen painted on Katy Perry’s nail. We think this is one of the most adorable baby announcements we’ve seen.
“Welcome to the world, Daisy Dove Bloom! We are honoured to introduce Goodwill Ambassadors @KatyPerry and @OrlandoBloom’s new bundle of joy,” the caption read.
Speaking to the foundation, the couple said, “We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter.” They went on to add, “But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was.” They went on to highlight the plight that many couples and new mothers face around the world, owing to a lack of resources and shortage of healthcare workers.
“Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever,” they said.
