Khuda Aur Mohabbat Episode 29: Mahi and Farhad Meet

“Khuda Aur Mohabbat” continues its hit run on television screens, bringing in audiences from around the world. However, while the show has been a real success, the content has not been on the receiving end of praise. With a male lead who refuses to take no for an answer and even curses his “love” for rejecting him, “Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3” has been a hot topic from early on in its run. Starring Feroze Khan, Iqra Aziz, Junaid Khan, Tooba Siddiqui, Hina Bayat, Sunita Marshall and many others, the story has been written by Hashim Nadeem Khan and directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain.

In episode 29, Mahi’s (Iqra Aziz) marriage to Sikandar (Junaid Khan) is being fixed by the family, unknown to her. Mahi’s family has temporarily relocated to Multan, now in the same city. While Sikandar has agreed to marry Mahi, Mahi’s focus is elsewhere. After realizing Farhad (Feroze Khan) is alive, Mahi is restless to meet him. When she finally does and the two speak, sparks fly. Mahi and Farhad’s relationship is more than slightly problematic, but Feroze Khan and Iqra Aziz share such beautiful chemistry, their scenes together are a treat to watch. Both actors have put their all into these roles and one cannot help but tear up watching the emotional dilemma from both sides – Farhad suffering, only wanting to be with Mahi, and Mahi unable to take that step forward due to her family and societal constraints. It’s a heartbreaking scenario, especially with Mahi now beginning to acknowledge that she loves Farhad. Of course, it’s difficult to forget how unreasonable Farhad is being, how he has abandoned his entire family and how he has gone crazy in love for a girl he spent three days with. It’s troubling to hear him ask “What family? What friends?” when declaring his dedication to his love for her – again, a love that was never more than a one-sided crush. But, as stated earlier, it’s Feroze Khan and Iqra Aziz’s performances that hold the narrative together.

In upcoming episodes, it’s clear as day that Mahi’s marriage to Sikandar will take place, leaving Farhad and Mahi both distraught. Is there any happiness in sight for these two characters or are they destined to live their lives separately? Do we, as viewers, even want them together or is this forced love narrative a bitter pill to swallow? This show brings out mixed emotions and it’s difficult to pin-point exactly what would be the ideal way to end this drama.
