Khuda Aur Mohabbat Episode 4: Is This The Beginning of Farhad’s Tragic Journey?

“Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3” is a show that defines “entertainment” for the general Pakistani viewer, a show that’s headed down a deeper path, but is at present choosing to keep the story light-hearted and fun during the build-up. The show has been written by Hashim Nadeem Khan, directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain and stars Feroze Khan, Iqra Aziz, Junaid Khan, Mirza Zain Baig, Sunita Marshal, Javed Sheikh, Seemi Pasha, Waseem Abbas, Tooba Siddiqui, Momina Iqbal and several others. The love story between Farhad and Mahi is on a roll now – though it’s clear this love story is from Farhad’s end only, a one-sided relationship.

In episode four, after Farhad (Feroze Khan) assists Rida (Meherbano) and Mahi (Iqra Aziz) in their plan to meet Faris, Rida’s fiancé, the trio return home undetected and the wedding plans continue. Farhad is the ideal wedding planner, an honest one who is hard-working and committed, and this does not go unnoticed by Rida’s father, Nisar (Javed Sheikh). While he (and the house help) are wary of his intentions for a moment, Rida chases Mahi away and Nisar, instead, overhears Rida’s confession that she sees Farhad as her brother, something which only further cements Farhad’s respect in Nisar’s eyes. This relationship between Rida and Farhad is very sweet and innocent as both characters are exactly that – innocent, kind-hearted individuals. And yet, this innocence is lost on Mahi, who blasts Farhad and accuses him of having negative intentions when he corners her to speak to her in private about his feelings. Feeling dejected, he backs off – but realizes only too late that Mahi has left back home. Hearing this, he boards a train to her place, hoping to confess his feelings for her in person. Considering Mahi’s attitude towards Farhad, this step cannot be a positive one for Farhad. Naheed (Momina Iqbal) continues pining over Farhad, worried that his job will take him father away from her and the potential relationship she envisions them having. It’s clear that Naheed has always been smitten with Farhad, but it seems one-sided affection is the name of the game in this show, so will Naheed be forced to let go of her feelings in the long run?

Running parallel is the track featuring Taimoor (Mirza Zain Baig) and Sikandar (Junaid Khan). While Taimoor has informed his mother (Hina Bayat) that he likes someone, he lets her know that he still needs to find the girl and find out her details. However, his mother seems supportive and trusting that she will approve his choice. It’s revealed that Sikandar is a widow with two young children, but is unwilling to remarry. This track with Taimoor is beginning to fall into place, but how Sikandar’s track will play out and turn into the story revealed in the OST is a mystery as of right now – and intriguing.

Oye Moti: Hajra Yamin’s Show On Express TV Is Refreshingly Different

There are some wonderful moments in this episode, particularly the ones between Farhad and Nisar where Nisar is seen praising Farhad’s work ethic. This is clearly Farhad’s calling as a wedding planner and would send Farhad in a direction if he would focus on it – but we all know this won’t happen. Still, Javed Sheikh’s presence in these scenes makes all the difference and the two men share a really sweet chemistry. Likewise, the scene between Farhad and Rida is equally sweet. Feroze Khan is the star of the show as Farhad, playing a character so sweet and pure-hearted that he’s instantly lovable despite his flaws. Feroze Khan is doing a wonderful job playing this character, a character which is different from the other roles we’ve seen him in lately, one that’s probably closest to his “Dil Kya Kare” role more than anything else. Now with Farhad headed out to meet Mahi and with the viewers recognizing that Mahi has been using Farhad, is this the point where Farhad’s downward spiral will begin?
