Khuda Aur Mohabbat Episode 9: Farhad Is Shot As Mahi’s Marriage Is Arranged

“Khuda Aur Mohabbat” continues to be a winner for Pakistani drama viewers, raking in audiences not only within Pakistan, but also in neighboring countries. An intense, tragic love story, wonderful actors, grand sets and elaborate costumes make “Khuda Aur Mohabbat” a must-watch. The show has been written by Hashim Nadeem Khan, directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain and stars Feroze Khan, Iqra Aziz, Junaid Khan, Mirza Zain Baig, Sunita Marshal, Javed Sheikh, Seemi Pasha, Waseem Abbas, Tooba Siddiqui, Momina Iqbal and others in prominent roles. As our lead, Farhad, continues to pine over Mahi, Mahi’s marriage is being arranged elsewhere.

In episode 9, we see Sikandar (Junaid Khan) and his mother (Hina Bayat) visiting with Mahi’s family as the two families arrange Mahi (Iqra Aziz) and Taimur’s (Mirza Zain Baig) marriage. Both families couldn’t be more pleased over the match, seeming to fit perfectly in terms of status, ideals and background (though Sikandar’s family appears much more down-to-earth and groomed). Even while viewers have a soft corner for Farhad, it’s easy to see Taimur and Mahi as an ideal match, fitting easily together. While Taimur is over the moon at the acceptance of his proposal, Mahi is preoccupied, fixated on Farhad (Feroze Khan) and his heartbreak. While Mahi may appear heartless at times, she is aware of Farhad’s feelings and does see him as a living, breathing, thriving human being – and she is becoming more aware of how her actions have affected him. Can her empathy be misconstrued as love though? While the audience may believe, for a moment, that Mahi is pondering over those feelings, those thoughts are brushed away when Mahi sees Taimur’s picture. Realizing he’s the same man from the train station, Mahi seems quite happy with the match. But will Farhad’s love ultimately create confusion in her heart?

Farhad’s love has consumed him and knowing that Mahi is now marrying someone else, he has lost the drive to live. He is living recklessly, putting himself in harm’s way as Nazim’s (Sohail Sameer) driver. He is shot in an ambush and winds up gravely injured in the hospital. While this proves his loyalty to Nazim and Kazim (Usman Peerzada), this only worries Mahi and Sahiba (Sunita Marshall). Sahiba states that they have been underestimating him and his love. These girls understand that they are too different for anything to have ever been possible between Mahi and Farhad – but they are not rigid human beings and feel deep empathy for Farhad’s state. Mahi continues to hold her happiness over her marriage back as her concern for Farhad takes control of her thoughts. Meanwhile, Dilawar (Saqib Sameer) proves himself a loyal friend as he begs Farhad to go back home.

Feroze Khan is simply the star of the show and week after week, he steals the hearts of viewers as the miserably in love “Feedi.” He is genuine in his feelings, but does not understand how far out of his league he is. The entire cast is doing a wonderful job and their characters feel “real.” The story has only just started to pick up steam with salt being poured on Farhad’s wounds as Mahi battles her emotions between her past and her future. From the first episode until now, “Khuda Aur Mohabbat” has proved to be a potential masterpiece and a must-watch.
