Lahore Motorway Incident: Sajal Aly Pens A Befitting Reply To Ignorant Instagram User

The Lahore motorway rape incident has resulted in a great amount of fear and anger amongst Pakistanis who are demanding a safer homeland for women and not one where they are forced to sit inside their homes because the outside world is too dangerous for them. The unfortunate occurrence has left us all sick to our stomachs, with social media users demanding a #HangRapistsPublicly policy and praying for the arrest of the culprits. For now, 12 suspects have been taking into custody by the police. In light of this, several celebrities have also come forward to condemn the incident. Sajal Aly has now penned a thought-provoking reply to an Instagram user.

When the news first broke out, the O Rangreza starlet took to the photo-sharing platform and posted a picture which read, “How long do we as a nation have to deal with this pain and embarrassment. When will we start protecting and respecting our women so that we feel safe? These questions must be answered NOW. Will this ever be stopped? These people should be hanged.”

Sajal captioned the post, “Why the system needs us to protest everytime to take actions? Take a few minutes and think about the children who had to see their mother being gang raped in front of their eyes. Yeh kab tak hota rahay ga??? Iska jawab kon dayga?? There should be an end to this. Magar kab? #shame #hangtherapist.” Upon a comment by an ignorant user who mentioned that women must cover themselves and wear burkas in order to not be raped, Sajal posted a befitting reply. She responded with, “Chalo, hum toh parda kar lein gay lekin kya jaanwar or bachay bhi parda shuru kardein? (Okay, us women will start covering ourselves but should animals and children do the same?).” Sajal was throwing shade at the various incidents of child rape as well as the brutal rape of animals that have taken place in the past. She questioned, “Unke rape honay ki wajah bhi yeh hai ke who parda nahi kartay?” A valid argument presented by the actress and we could not agree more!
