Mere Humsafar Episode 13: Farhan Saeed and Hania Amir Win Over Viewers As Hamza and Hala

“Mere Humsafar” has been luring in viewers over the past weeks, telling the story of a neglected young girl and how she suffers at the hands of her own extended family.  Starring Hania Amir, Farhan Saeed, Saba Hameed, Waseem Abbas, Tara Mehmood, Zoya Nasir, Aamir Qureshi and others, the story has been written by Saira Raza and directed by Qasim Ali Mureed.  While many have felt the show to be cashing in on misery, depicting Hala in the worst circumstances week after week, this is the sort of show that leaves viewers rooting for its lead character, hoping to see her get out of her miserable circumstances and find happiness – and happiness has arrived in the form of Hamza.

Hamza (Farhan Saeed) is a knight in shining armor – and this knight brings about all the romance that one could have wanted.  Hamza has committed himself to Hala (Hania Amir) and this is not a commitment he takes lightly.  While Shah Jahan (Saba Hamid) and Raees (Waseem Abbas) are doing everything in their power to force Hamza’s hand at divorcing Hala, Hamza has not only surprised them, but also Hala by refusing to do so.  The moments between Hamza and Hala make up the high points of the episode, Farhan and Hania’s chemistry crackling between their sweet characters.  While Shah Jahan seems hell-bent on separating this duo, Hamza will not give in to her manipulations easily.  However, will Shah Jahan manage to use Khurram (Omer Shahzad) against Hala and turn Hamza against her?  This is the point where doubt could come in, as Hamza seems every bit the supportive, loving partner up until now.

Farhan Saeed has given “Mere Humsafar” a freshness that is required with his portrayal of Hamza, a character who makes both Hala and the audience go weak in the knees with his sincerity.  While the desire to see Hala happy has been there, the romance between Hamza and Hala is now the show’s greatest pull.  It will also be interesting to see if Nafees (Aly Khan) will make a return to Pakistan in coming episodes now that his daughter is married.  Not that it matters, as he has treated his own daughter like an object, throwing her around and neglecting her – and yet, it would still be nice to see him recognize how poorly his family has been treating her over the years and atone for his own neglect of a child he once claimed to love.  “Mere Humsafar” has gone from a guilty pleasure to a show that genuinely has viewers excited each week.
