Muhabbat Gumshuda Meri Episode 6: Khushhal Khan & Dananeer Mobeen Are A Vision of Young Love

Purely romantic shows, that too focused on young love, are a rarity on Pakistani television.  It’s for this reason that “Muhabbat Gumshuda Meri” stands out, a young college years romance with family opposition.  This is basically yet another version of “Romeo And Juliet,” yet with a young, fresh touch.   Starring Khushhal Khan, Dananeer Mobeen, Omair Rana, Farah Sadia, Ayesha Toor, Ali Tahir, Leyla Zuberi, Ali Raza, Naureen Gulwan, Agha Ali and others, the story has been written by Rahat Jabeen and directed by Shahid Shafaat.

Episode 6 goes a bit haywire when Faiqa (Ayesha Toor) continues to ignore Ibrahim’s (Omair Rana) advice and calls Daniyal to inform him that Zobia (Dananeer Mobeen) and Saim (Khushhal Khan) are on the roof.  Daniyal literally jumps into the car and drives to Zobia’s house, breaking apart Zobia & Saim, entering Rushna & Zobia’s bedroom, throws Zobia on the bed, locks the door and proceeds to rip into Rushna (Naureen Gulwani) about her lack of watchdog skills.  Characters like Daniyal are irritating, because he himself is overstepping.  He is not married to Rushna yet and has the audacity to enter and then lock the door of a woman’s bedroom.  Who gave him that permission?  He continues to not only scream at Zobia, but also charges at her to hit her.  The hypocrisy here is rich.

After this altercation, Daniyal keeps this interaction hidden from the family, but has a terrible attitude throughout his wedding to Rushna.  Meanwhile, Saim confronts his parents, livid at how Faiqa has handled this entire situation.  Omair Rana is a star as Ibrahim.  Ibrahim is a truly grounded, good father who wants the best for his son, understands him, but also recognizes that he’s still a child.  While Saim is ready to get engaged, Ibrahim points out that he doesn’t even have a college degree let alone a career.  However, young love is young love and Saim continues to protest before ultimately leaving home in an attempt to emotionally blackmail his parents.  Omair Rana and Ayesha Toor are such great casting as Khushhal Khan’s parents, giving their entire family dynamic a youthful feel, driving home just how young Saim and Zobia are meant to be.

Khushhal Khan and Dananeer Mobeen are obviously the stars of the show and it’s their chemistry which is the highlight.  This is a relationship that is really sweet to watch on-screen.  And while we are desperately rooting for these sweet kids to end up together and can even relate to their emotions (haven’t we all been there?)….we do recognize that they are just kids and their actions are incredibly reckless.  This allows us to relate to their families as well (not Daniyal though, he is a nightmare) as we can imagine reacting similarly in their place.  The preview for the next episode is intense and shows Saim getting shot.  What will be the outcome of this?
