“Mushk” is a drama that sets itself apart from other shows with its unique story and old-world feel. Starring Imran Ashraf, Urwa Hocane, Osama Tahir and Momal Sheikh in lead roles, “Mushk” has been written by Imran Ashraf and directed by Aehsun Talish. The story is a multi-track story and gives scope for each actor to showcase their acting abilities. Last we saw, Roshni had run away with Saqib, leaving the entire family in shambles as Dada Ji suffered a heart attack.
Roshni’s (Sehar Khan) track has veered into a murky place and the story is very much rooted in reality. Thousands of girls experience this, not only in Pakistan, but across the globe. Roshni has found herself in a brothel, sold by Saqib (Raza Talish), a man she truly loved and trusted enough to run away with him from her own marriage. That’s what makes this so tragic, as Roshni left everything behind for this man and he never saw her as anything but a means to make money – and get revenge. As we saw in the last episode, Saqib’s interest in Roshni was a sure-fire way to get back at Roshni’s father for the condition Saqib’s sister has been in for years. But it becomes clear in this episode that Saqib’s guilt, and potentially love, has come back to haunt him. He worries for Roshni and feels a deep sense of having betrayed her, something he hadn’t expected to feel. Sehar Khan stands out and is proving to be a talented actress, while Raza Talish is acting well in a negative role.
Dada Ji has also been discharged and is now back at home. Mehek (Momal Sheikh) continues to be a character that leaves viewers on the fence. It’s strange, because the family believes Roshni ran away to be with the man she loves. While we as viewers now know Saqib is not a good guy and had bad intentions, Mehek does not know this. So isn’t it hypocritical for Mehek to have gotten married behind her family’s back and had a child, all of her own free will and choice, and now expect Adam to drag Roshni back to the family simply for Dada Ji’s happiness and “izzat”? One really wants to like Mehek, because…..well, aren’t we supposed to like Mehek? But unfortunately, Mehek is difficult to like due to her actions. Still, one hopes for her happiness, only because Shayaan really deserves his happiness, which is in Mehek. Momal Sheikh is a likable actress though and she is a natural.
Shayaan (Osama Tahir) has, unfortunately, become a prisoner in his world once again. It’s so difficult to be upset with Shayaan, because Osama Tahir is playing him so well and he’s an endearing character. But Shayaan has created this situation through his own naivety, choosing to attempt to have his mamoon arrested rather than run for his life. He is now being emotionally blackmailed with his sister’s marriage, which is infuriating. His sister is even more infuriating, asking her brother to sacrifice his happiness and life for her family, though one can sympathize with her circumstances as well. Again, Osama Tahir is doing a wonderful job with this role and makes Shayaan a character to root for.
And of course last, but not least, Guddi (Urwa Hocane) has, in the wake of Roshni’s escape, found a new way to torture Zulekha (Zara Tareen). As Zulekha sits in mourning over her missing daughter, Guddi has now begun playing a game with Zulekha’s husband (Hassan Ahmed) and Dr. Rana (Raja Haider). Instructing Zulekha’s husband to stop eating any medications, making him aware that his medications are making him sick, Guddi has now put her focus on entrapping Dr. Rana. The man is now fixated on Guddi and is wrapped around her finger. But how will Guddi use this to her advantage and what exactly is the endgame in this scenario? Urwa Hocane is the perfect Guddi and just lights up the screen each time she appears. She was made for this role.
Mushk Episode 12: Osama Tahir’s Shayaan Leaves Viewers Frustrated
“Mushk” continues to be a show that leaves the viewer wanting more. The episode ends in a cliffhanger moment as Adam (Imran Ashraf), who has been searching for Roshni, comes face-to-face with her at the brothel. The next episode seems exciting as Adam rescues Roshni from her present situation. Not only is Adam a real hero in the show as the lovable Adam, but Imran Ashraf is the true hero of “Mushk” as the writer. The writing is what leaves viewers hooked with the interesting story, as well as Aehsun Talish’s direction. This is a show that keeps getting better each week.
