“Mushk” keeps the balling rolling as the story moves further into an intense spot. Starring Imran Ashraf, Urwa Hocane, Momal Sheikh and Osama Tahir in lead roles, this drama has been written by Imran Ashraf and directed by Aehsun Talish. While Guddi and Adam have been seen confessing their liking for one another, Adam is publicly seen as Mehek’s fiancé. So how will this affect things when Mehek wants him to stand up for her and her son?
In episode 22, as expected, Adam (Imran Ashraf) is ready to sacrifice himself after Mehek (Momal Sheikh) asks him to give her child his name. While Adam initially voices what the audience has been thinking, telling her that she should have confronted Shayaan rather than running away without answers. Mehek listens with this interestingly arrogant expression and it is becoming increasingly more difficult to like Mehek. Of course, Guddi overhears Mehek’s request and does not waste time in letting Adam know that she won’t hold expectations from him. She also manages to plant the seed into Mehek’s mind that Mehek is stepping on Guddi’s toes regarding Adam, but will Mehek actually understand and absorb her dig? And will she even care? What’s becoming increasingly evident is how selfish Mehek is – something that seems to run in this family.
“Chotay Malik,” played by Hassan Ahmed, is now recovered and the entire family is seen rejoicing at the sight of him on his feet. As the celebration continues, Zulekha (Zara Tareen) is seen hiding in her room, overcome with worry, knowing what’s in store for her. While Zulekha has been an externally hard character, we all know and recognize the sort of abuse and mistreatment led to the actions she took. It does not take even a second to look at Zulekha’s face and sympathize deeply with her. She is a victim of abuse – physically, emotionally and verbally – and what’s strange is that not one person in the household seems as disturbed by Chotay Malik’s improvement. Are they not aware of what Zulekha experienced at his hands? If so, how is it possible for them not to realize what she’s experiencing internally? Of course, Zulekha is not the only woman wary of his return. Guddi has now found herself to be the object of his affection – and it’s clear that he’s a man who will not give up until he gets what he wants, by consent or coercion. How will Guddi get herself out of this situation, particularly because Adam will no longer serve as her protector?
Shayaan (Osama Tahir) has taken the upper hand at present and he is aware of it. It’s both tragic to see this side of Shayaan and applause-worthy. Shayaan has finally been given the opportunity to take charge of his life, everyone now cowering in fear of his actions. When his brother-in-law threatens him that he will divorce his sister, Shayaan is quick to throw him down and make it clear that as soon as he does, he will do the same to little Masooma. Malik Sahab (Aehsun Talish) is visibly disturbed by this change in personality and feels that the balance of power has shifted, even calling his (fake) Peer Sahab to calm his nerves. But along with this change, there’s a very real shift that one has to acknowledge – the shift that has turned the kind-hearted, too honest, too naïve Shayaan into a man who now knows how to wield his power. And how long will it take for this power to consume Shayaan and change his personality? Is that what will happen, putting Shayaan in Malik’s position, molding him to become just like him? Or will Shayaan manage to retain his humanity and reunite with Mehek and his child with as little damage to his soul as possible? It’s an interesting angle to think about. Osama Tahir is doing a wonderful job, the story finally giving his arc more time and he’s enacting this change in Shayaan convincingly.
Mushk Episode 21: Momal Sheikh’s Mehek Takes a Turn For The Villainous
Episode 22 is action-packed and a lot happens. It’s also great to see that Adam’s mother will not let Adam sacrifice his happiness so easily and will fight for his happiness, regardless of what Adam himself says. Hassan Ahmed stands out in this episode as the sinister Chotay Malik, a man who has soft moments with his family, but is overall a very sinister, ruthless man with negative intentions towards his wife and those who have “wronged” him. Hassan Ahmed’s performance is great, as despicable as his character may be. He will continue his pursuit of Guddi in the next episode, but how will he handle her stern rejection as she states that she loves someone else?
