Parwaaz Hai Junoon flies into China, where no one had gone in 30 years!

It’s a big day for the entire entertainment industry of Pakistan as HUM Films’ Parwaaz Hai Junoon would become the first Pakistani film to release in China in the last 30 years. The Haseeb Hasan-directed venture will grace the screens across China on November 13, 2020, and boldly go when no one had gone in three decades.

Released in 2018, Parwaaz Hai Junoon featured Hamza Ali Abbasi, Hania Aamir, Ahad Raza Mir, Shaz Khan, Kubra Khan and Shafaat Ali and revolved around the lives of cadets who went onto defend their country against terrorists. It not only broke records at the box office but was instrumental in heralding the era of films revolving around the Pakistan Air Force. It was even dubbed Pakistan’s Top Gun because of its amazing aerial photography, stunning dog fight sequences, and a romantic arc between Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ahad Raza Mir, and Hania Aamir.

Farhat Ishtiaq, the writer behind Parwaaz Hai Junoon, termed the announcement of the film’s release date in China as an achievement that will help the entertainment industry of Pakistan. Talking to The Brown Identity, she said ‘This is not just an achievement for the writer, director, producer and the entire cast and crew of Parwaaz Hai Junoon but of Pakistan, and the Pakistan film industry. It’s a milestone for the entire Pakistani entertainment industry and I am sure that the film will portray a soft image of Pakistan wherever it will be screened. It was about time that the world should know that we are peace-loving people, and we not only know how to tell stories but also make films. Through this film, we have tried to pay tribute to our heroes, the Pakistan Air Force, and all those soldiers who sacrifice their lives to save our motherland. It is not a propaganda movie but one that promotes love and peace. Through its release in China, filmmakers in Pakistan will realize that it is never too late to start dreaming, and they will get encouraged to follow their hearts and do something that hasn’t been done for a long time.’

Produced under the banner of Momina and Duraid Films and distributed by HUM Films, the contract to release Parwaaz Hai Junoon in China was signed between the producer Momina Duraid and Fire International Media’s Wang Ye. Earlier, the movie became the first Pakistani film to be released commercially in Saudi Arabia, and will now fly into uncharted territories of China when it’s released on November 13, 2020.

Director Haseeb Hasan, the man behind the fifth-highest-grossing Pakistani film of all time also believes that by releasing in China, Parwaaz Hai Junoon will change the dynamics of the Pakistani film industry. ‘It’s an honor not only for me but for the entire Pakistan film fraternity that Parwaaz Hai Junoon will be screening in China, becoming the first film in three decades to do so. We made the film with the best intentions and when you are honest in whatever you do, He helps you in mysterious ways. I hope that the next film that screens in China doesn’t take 30 years and more films from Pakistan are screened in China.’

Actor Shaz Khan who played one of the leads in the movie terms its release in China as a ‘great step’. Talking to The Brown Identity, Shaz Khan said that he hopes that the film’s release ‘ignites a fire to keep pushing ourselves creatively.’ TV host and renowned stand-up comedian Shafaat Ali also was ecstatic at the announcement of the film’s release in China. ‘Although Parwaaz Hai Junoon featured me in a small role, I am elated at the news of its release in China. At a time when the whole world is hit by the pandemic, it is a good step to open cinemas with a Pakistani film in a country with whom we share a brotherly bond. I am sure that with this film’s release, Pakistan will make an entry into China and more Pakistani films will be released in what is the biggest market for films in the world.

Parwaaz Hai Junoon will release on screens across China on November 13, 2020. The trailer of the film that will run in Chinese cinema has been edited in such a way that it will attract those who are more into action films and love flicks that feature dogfight sequences.
