It’s quite surreal how time flies. Come July 2021, the royal family will be marking what would have been Princess Diana’s 60th birthday, and to commemorate the occasion, the princess will be honoured like never before on July 1, 2021. A press release from Kensington Palace has revealed that her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry will be unveiling a permanent display; a statue of their mother; which will be a tribute to the life of the Princess of Wales.
The royal family has been in the news for quite some time this year and the news of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moving away from the royal family made major headlines. The couple have moved their lives and their homes to California where they will be raising their baby boy, Archie. With their move away from England, rumours were rife that there was a rift between the two brothers, William and Harry.
Now while we do not fully know what ensued between the brothers, what we do know is that the two will be coming together and joining forces for the special event on July 1 to pay tribute to their mother. Planning for the event has been in the works since long before rumours of their rift arose.

It was back in 2017 that both princes announced the plan to erect the statue on the grounds of Kensington Palace and at that time, no date had been put in place. “It has been twenty years since our mother’s death and the time is right to recognize her positive impact in the UK and around the world with a permanent statue,” read their joint statement. “Our mother touched so many lives.”
A new statement released by the palace however states that the design of the statue is in progression however, plans for its installation were delayed owing to the coronavirus pandemic. And now there is a final date for the reveal.
