Model Muhammad Abbas Jafri is no new face in the world of entertainment. Known for his ramp walks and designer photoshoots, he is also the recipient of two Lux Style Awards for Best Male Model. Besides his booming modelling career, Jafri contested the 2018 elections for Sindh Assembly’s Constituency PS-125 as a candidate of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He won the election bagging 30,687 votes. In an unfortunate turn of events, the elected MPA has now been suspended for allegedly violating party discipline and has been issued a show-cause notice for the same, reported The Express Tribune.
According to the notice, Jafri was involved in an ‘unfortunate incident’ in Karachi’s Central District that concerned the “internal affairs of the party”. The notice reads, “Taking the internal affairs of the party to the public has damaged the reputation of the party, which is a clear violation of the party constitution enshrined in Article XII.2 of the Constitution and Discipline under the head ‘Disciplinary Violations and Penalties Table’.”

Jafri has now been asked to submit a written response in his defense within the next three days. “You are directed to submit a written explanation within the next three days as to why your case should not be referred to the regional Standing Committee on Accountability and Discipline for further appropriate constitutional action,” the notice adds. Jafri has also been asked to refrain from speaking or commenting on media (Electronic, Print and Social) against any party member and policy decision of the party. An avid member of PTI for more than two years, social work has always been close to Jafri’s heart. Prior to getting elected as the MPA, Jafri had said, “I was given a ticket by PTI because of my background in social work. So irrespective of whether I win or not, I will continue doing social work. I was born and raised in Karachi. I live in this metropolis. I get to experience the sufferings of the middle and lower class on a daily basis. I can see the high rate of street crime. Hence, I have decided that I will focus on eliminating that as a priority.”
