Qayamat Episode 30: Ifrah’s Life Is About To Change – Again – With Urooj’s Arrival

“Qayamat” is a show that brings in high ratings due to its dramatic nature, but has been falling in terms of quality content over the last few weeks. Starring Ahsan Khan, Neelam Muneer, Haroon Shahid, Saba Faisal, Shabir Jan, Noor Ul Hassan and others, the show has been written by Sarwat Nazir and directed by Ali Faizan. “Qayamat” has moved along a lot since the show began, a story which focused on two sisters and how their lives progressed after marriage/engagement. However now the story has switched gears again.

Honestly, “Qayamat” has always tethered dangerously towards overbearing melodrama, but Neelam Muneer’s Ifrah has kept the proceedings somewhat sane with her empowering character. And yet, at the present junction, “Qayamat” is falling prey to transforming into something seriously intolerable. With episode 30, the canvas flips entirely with the insufferable Urooj taking up much of the show’s screen space. Urooj is an “Amreekan” returned character who often comments on how Ifrah is “badtameez” and “badlihaaz,” comparing her to her own good manners – even though she was “raised in America.” The entire character of Urooj is illogical and irritating. This is an independent woman who has traveled to Pakistan alone to meet her potential future-in-laws and is staking claim not only on the household, but also on Jawad – a man she hasn’t even met! This is a cunning, manipulative character who has absolutely no reason to behave this way. Unfortunately, this character hogs much of the runtime in this episode, making it a poor one.

To make matters worse, Ifrah (Neelam Muneer) and Rashid (Ahsan Khan) have been growing closer, but Rashid finds himself falling back in with his old crowd – including Pari (Sana Fakhar). Has Rashid truly changed or will he fall into old habits? There’s an insane track where Ifrah’s father (Noor Ul Hassan) decides to move out of his own home and into…..a mansion. But why? While yes, he has come into some considerable money, why would he upgrade instead of buying himself a nice place, but more manageable? Of course, now this gives reason to hire house help, which arrives in the form of a young woman and her son. How long will it take for this woman to manipulate her way into her boss’s heart and become his wife? And would Ifrah stand for this?

At a point when Ifrah’s troubles should be subsiding and her life should be falling into place, the story of “Qayamat” seems set to launch into some soap-opera style drama. On one end, Pari will begin blackmailing Rashid. Then of course, we have Urooj who is hellbent on making Ifrah’s life hell (again, without any reason other than her infatuation with a man she has never met). And last, but not least, Ifrah’s father will now fall prey to gold-diggers, since he has never had experience managing large amounts of money. Is there anything positive to discuss in this episode? Neelam Muneer is fabulous, as always, but this isn’t any surprise. Neelam Muneer has been the only good character on this show for a long time. While “Qayamat” may still be bringing in the ratings, it is the opposite of a quality show.
