The story of “Qayamat” tells the story of two sisters, Samra and Ifra, who get caught up in tragic circumstances when Samra is married off to a good-for-nothing relative. “Qayamat” has been written by Sarwat Nazeer and directed by Ali Faizan. Starring Ahsan Khan, Neelam Muneer, Amar Khan, Haaris Waheed, Shabbir Jan, Saba Faisal and others, episode 4 saw the introduction of Jawad, Haroon Shahid’s character. In episode 4, we saw that Samra made the decision to marry Rashid to protect her family.
In episode 5, Saad (Haaris Waheed) and Samra (Amar Khan) struggle to come to terms with the decision they’ve made (rather, the decision Samra has made) and Saad is in tears as he asks her why she didn’t give their love importance. Samra states that she has given her father’s respect and well-being importance over her love. While this may seem irritating, the threats Rashid’s father (Shabbir Jan) were intense enough to be the cause of concern for any daughter, so can anyone really blame Samra for making this choice? Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Samra’s parents. They can see what a terrible man Rashid (Ahsan Khan) is and, for their own comfort, are willingly and knowingly pushing their daughter into the fire. Parents are supposed to protect their children, but this set of parents are sacrificing one child for a roof over their heads. Amar Khan and Haaris Waheed have done a wonderful job as this torn-apart-couple, leaving the audience feeling genuinely upset about their breakup.
Amidst all this, Ifra (Neelam Muneer) and Jawad (Neelam Muneer) grow closer through the course of wedding preparations. Jawad does not leave a moment to express his interest in Ifra and Ifra also appears to be drawn to him. However, she’s also visibly uncomfortable with Rashid and his mother’s (Saba Faisal) behavior. Still, knowing Jawad and his father are there, she believes Samra will still be protected in that household. The wedding does not go smoothly with hundreds of red flags popping up each minute. Whether it be Rashid’s rude behavior, his constant texting (why didn’t his family take his phone away from him?!) or his complete disinterest in Samra and her family, Rashid is the son-in-law/brother-in-law/husband from hell. However, it must be said that the way Ahsan Khan is playing Rashid is not overly evil like Imtiaz (Udaari). Rather, Rashid is as childish as an “evil” character can get. He’s rude, brash, immature and mannerless, showing the behavior one would expect from an impatient 7 year old. It will be interesting to see what he’s like as a husband.
Qayamat Episode 2: Amar Khan’s Samra Sacrifices Herself For Her Family
Of course, one can’t forget that Rashid has his side girlfriend, played by Sana Faakhir, and she shows up at the wedding venue, shocked that Rashid is marrying someone else. He rushes to console her, afraid that someone will see her and covers the situation up before his father can see. Is Rashid actually committed to this character? It’s unclear, but Ahsan Khan is doing a great job playing this role as he has viewers thoroughly confused as to what’s coming next. Amar Khan, Haaris Waheed, Neelam Muneer and Haroon Shahid are all sincere in their roles and making the show interesting to watch with their performances. Overall, “Qayamat” continues to be a show with promise, one that’s a surefire hit and with Sarwat Nazir writing, hopefully well-written as well.
