Rang Mahal Episode 89: Rayed Aims For a Reunion With Mahapara – But Do We Want it?

“Rang Mahal” is now inching towards the 100 episode mark with only ten episodes to go. Will it make it there or is there now an ending in sight before the show hits the mark? Starring Sehar Khan, Ali Ansari, Humayun Ashraf, Asim Mehmood and Arooba Mirza in lead roles, the story has been written by Shafia Khan and directed by Zahid Mehmood. With Sohail’s truth exposed and Rayed rushing to make amends, what is in store for the lead characters of “Rang Mahal”?

In episode 89, Rayed’s (Ali Ansari) belief in Sohail (Humayun Ashraf) has unraveled. He now realizes all the plots Sohail has hatched to break apart Rayed and Mahapara and how he destroyed Mahapara’s life to “get her” into his life. Ali Ansari does a great job performing in these scenes and it’s also great to see how Sohail, who has tried to keep up pretenses all along, finally drops the act and reveals his true face. Sohail says something that’s valid though, despite being a horrible human being. He tells Rayed that Mahapara genuinely loved him, but Rayed didn’t value that love, because he never trusted Mahapara to begin with. While it’s tragic to see Rayed’s trust in his family broken, it’s still not enough to allow the audience to root for Rayed and Mahapara. Sohail’s words are exactly what the audience has been thinking all along. Rayed not only did not trust Mahapara, he never bothered to discover the truth and, even worse, he character-assassinated her on every turn and publicly humiliated her despite so-called “loving” her. While the lies were not his fault and he was a victim himself of his family, his choices moving forward were his own decision. He chose to mistreat Mahapara and not seek the truth from the woman he claimed to love.

On the other end, Mahapara (Sehar Khan) is now marrying Salaar (Asim Mehmood), a wonderful man who has stood by Mahapara through thick and thin. What’s troublesome here is that Mahapara continues to say she’s marrying him out of obligation. Mahapara’s heart is still with Rayed. This is a disturbing message being sent if Mahapara doesn’t acknowledge love for Salaar by the end of the show. Love like Rayed and Mahapara’s is lacking the basic necessity of a relationship – trust. Add to that, all the humiliation Mahapara has suffered due to his words and the mud-slinging that has occurred from both sides……is it really possible to forgive after all this? Is there a “happily ever after?” And would that happily ever after include any of Rayed’s family members? One cannot even imagine Mahapara saying so much as “hello” to Rayed’s father, mother or brother after everything they have said to her and put her through. Could a relationship like this ever work? It’s not likely. But Salaar has not only fought for his entire family for Mahapara, but also forced them to change their opinion of her and even apologize to her. For Mahapara or her Daadi to dismiss what Salaar has done for this family would not only be ungrateful, but downright foolish. Sure, no one is required to reciprocate feelings for another – but women should make intelligent decisions for themselves. Channels should stop showing toxic relationships and advertising them as “love.” At this point, the only thing we can hope for from “Rang Mahal” is that the creatives surprise us and give us the Salaar-Mahapara relationship that we, as viewers, deserve.
