What sets “Raqs E Bismil” apart are its beautiful dialogues, which complement the deep emotions of the characters, enhanced by the subtle yet powerful performances of its actors. This is a show that is a complete package and yet, it’s underrated and does not get the attention it so deserves. Starring Imran Ashraf, Sarah Khan, Momin Saqib, Anoushay Abbasi, Mehmood Aslam, Javeria Abbasi, Nida Mumtaz, Furqan Qureshi, Saleem Mairaj, Gul E Rana and others, “Raqs E Bismil” has been written by Hashim Nadeem and directed by Wajahat Rauf.
Episode 10 opens with Zohra (Sarah Khan) meeting Musa (Imran Ashraf) in the library. She informs him of what happened between her and his mother. This leaves Musa shocked, but what shocks him further is when Zohra asks him to leave her alone, stating that she doesn’t have feelings for him. Musa has loved Zohra so intensely, so obsessively and so loyally that he never even once could imagine that Zohra could feel anything other than love for him. He truly felt that his love would win her over – and he thought that it had. Of course, as viewers, we recognize that Zohra is simply trying to do what’s best for Musa in the long run and keep him with his family despite the feelings she does discreetly harbor (and deny) for him in her heart. Zohra and Musa are both very complex characters and their love story is one that’s fascinating to watch not only due to their different backgrounds, but also their conflicting personalities that still manage to hold one another in high regard – and love.
Despite Sakina (Anoushay Abbasi) having a solid reason for being angry with both Musa and Isa, her desire for revenge is taking over her senses and she can no longer see straight. Isa (Momin Saqib) continues to play the role of dutiful husband and loyal protector, but Sakina brushes off his kind words and taunts Isa regularly, like clockwork. To make matters worse, Kamran finally makes a reappearance, now back in the city. He begins frequently calling Sakina, an act that does not go unnoticed by Isa. But Isa is a genuinely good guy, a guy who will not force himself or his love on his wife if it’s unwanted and would even allow her to leave him for Kamran – if Kamran were to step up and take ownership of that love. Unfortunately, it’s clear that Kamran will serve as nothing but a disappointment and a lesson for Sakina, if only Sakina would see this before destroying her own life. Still, she sets out to meet Kamran one day, but finds that he has run out to take his father to the doctor and is told to wait until he returns. Sakina, again, has been blinded by her hatred and her desire to escape her home to the point that she doesn’t realize what a terrible situation she has placed herself in, waiting in a home with three men who don’t waste any time in setting their sights on her. Fortunately, like a true savior, Musa arrives at the very end. This is ironic, considering Musa is the very man who tore Sakina away from Kamran at one time and the man that Sakina has turned all her hatred towards – and now that same Musa is the man who will serve as her protector against these villainous men.

The lead cast of Imran Ashraf and Sarah Khan is wonderful, both actors doing complete justice to their roles and really getting into the skin of their characters. This makes the audience not only root for Musa and Zohra, but also feel the grief of their separation and, really, the unlikelihood of their union. Sakina’s curse has rung out loud and clear and has found its mark. Of course, everyone involved with the show is delivering their best, putting their best foot forward – whether it’s Saleem Mairaj as Namurad, Momin Saqib as Isa or Anoushay Abbasi as Sakina, these actors all shine in their sequences. As the story moves forward, we’ll see Zohra facing family pressure to marry Shehryar while Musa is disowned by his father for his refusal to marry. Musa and Zohra’s love story continues to gain momentum, presenting a compelling story that deserves to reach more viewers.
