Raqs E Bismil Episode 16: Musa and Zohra Come Face to Face Once Again

Telling the love story of two souls from different backgrounds, unable to be together despite their strong emotional bond, “Raqs E Bismil” is a love story on a different level. This isn’t a situation of rich vs. poor or even an issue of religion. This is a story of lovers where the line has been drawn between them based on moral grounds, the grounds of values, of what is perceived as “right” and “wrong.” Who is right? The man who comes from a pious household but once held regressive, oppressive values? Or the woman who comes from a family of escorts, but has held her dignity intact? Starring Imran Ashraf, Sarah Khan, Momin Saqib, Anoushay Abbasi, Mehmood Aslam, Javeria Abbasi, Nida Mumtaz, Furqan Qureshi, Saleem Mairaj, Gul E Rana and others, “Raqs E Bismil” has been written by Hashim Nadeem and directed by Wajahat Rauf.

In episode 16, Musa (Imran Ashraf) has saved Laila (Zara Sheikh) from an attack on her life. And while the police pry and search for the culprit, the culprit remains in close quarters with Laila and Musa – Laila’s own husband, Taufeeq. What’s lovely to see here is the relationship between Laila and Musa. Laila trusts Musa with her life and treats him with complete respect, even taking his side during Musa and Taufeeq’s fights. This is a man she knows she can trust more than her own husband. And yet, Musa’s alignment with Laila has served as another point of contention for his own family. Spotting him at the mazhaar with Laila, Musa’s father is furious and labels him a failure in his eyes.

On the other end, Zohra (Sarah Khan) continues to struggle in her marriage. Sheheryar (Furqan Qureshi) uses Zohra as an object, an item to appease those around him who he wishes to form business relationships with. And so, Zohra, despite her personal ethics and ideals of what a marriage should be, finds herself being treated with disrespect not only by those around her, but by her own husband. When she meets Musa at a party, she finally reveals the truth about why she rejected him. This leaves Musa horrified that she took the side of his mother and rejected his love, a love for which he has now been ostracized from his family for. And still, Musa’s love for Zohra is unchanging, so when he realizes she has been missing from the party, he goes in search of her – only to find her screaming for help as Sheheryar’s business associate tries to force himself on her.

Khuda Aur Mohabbat Episode 9: Farhad Is Shot As Mahi’s Marriage Is Arranged

The relationship between Musa and Zohra is heartbreakingly beautiful. Both characters are now living lives completely different from what they had ever imagined for themselves and their path to each other continues to branch out further and further. It’s Imran Ashraf’s performance as Musa that stands out the most in this show. Musa’s unchanging, undying love for Zohra continues to thrive even through the worst of times – and now faced with the murky truth of her present, he continues to stand for her and care for her. Sarah Khan is beautiful and fits the bill as Zohra perfectly. Will Musa be able to save Zohra from her marriage? Will they ever be able to be together without worrying about the constraints of society? The tangled web that surrounds their relationship is exactly what makes this show so riveting and keeps the audience coming back for more.
