Raqs E Bismil Episode 17: Imran Ashraf and Sarah Khan’s Chemistry As Musa and Zohra Radiates

“Raqs E Bismil” is one of those dramas which relies less on gimmicks to pull in viewers and more on presenting its audience with a solid, slow-building story which leaves a lasting impact.  “Raqs E Bismil” is a tormented love saga of two individuals from vastly different backgrounds who find themselves connected through an unbreakable bond – but are, alas, not destined to be together.  The cast is helmed by Imran Ashraf and Sarah Khan as its lead characters, Musa and Zohra, supported by talented cast members such as Momin Saqib, Anoushay Abbasi, Mehmood Aslam, Javeria Abbasi, Nida Mumtaz, Furqan Qureshi, Saleem Mairaj, Gul E Rana and others.  “Raqs E Bismil” has been written by Hashim Nadeem and directed by Wajahat Rauf.

In episode 17, Zohra (Sarah Khan) finds herself trapped in a room with her husband’s business associate, Shehbaz, who tries to force himself on her.  Fortunately, Musa (Imran Ashraf) bursts into the room at the right time and rescues Zohra.  This scene is a treat for viewers who have longed to see the two together in some capacity and here, Zohra rushes to Musa and holds him, recognizing that he is her protector.  The bond between Zohra and Musa has never been physical, but the comfort and respect the two have with/for each other is seen here.  While Musa is furious and wants to attack Shehbaz, Zohra requests him to back down and he makes his escape.  Musa and Zohra share an intense moment where Zohra finally lets on that she loves Musa and regrets ever leaving him behind.  This is the first time Musa realizes that Zohra actually does feel for him – and yet, it’s tainted with separation once again.  Imran Ashraf and Sarah Khan shine in this sequence, both playing their roles with strong conviction – and great chemistry!

Unfortunately, Shehbaz and Taufeeq have now caught on that Zohra and Musa know each other – and know each other well.  This news reaches Sheheryar (Furqan Qureshi) who also questions Zohra about it, but Zohra blasts him for constantly suspecting her instead of turning on his sleazy business associates.  Meanwhile, Laila (Zara Sheikh) defends Musa and trusts that he did the right thing, defending another woman from Shehbaz.  A key moment occurs when Isa (Momin Saqib) pays a visit in Musa’s absence, looking for Musa.  It’s then that Laila realizes Musa is from a much higher status than he presents himself, realizing which family he’s from.  She feels troubled by Musa’s concealing of the truth, wanting to talk to him about it and question his decision.  Laila is a good-hearted woman, but one can’t help worrying that her days are limited.

Dunk Episode 17: Haider and Minal’s Marriage Faces Disapproval

As the episode ends, we see Sheheryar being forced by his brothers to divorce Zohra.  Will he give in?  And if so, what will become of Zohra?  Honestly, one believes Zohra would be much better off without Sheheryar, but will he let go of her that easily?  And if so, will her road to Musa be any easier?  “Raqs E Bismil” is one of those shows that one looks forward to each week, each episode presenting something worthwhile.  Both Zohra and Musa are such endearing characters, made all the more lovable by the actors playing them – Imran Ashraf and Sarah Khan.  Of course, one would like to see more of Momin Saqib and Anoushay Abbasi at this point and actually see their bond grow.  Overall, “Raqs E Bismil” continues to be a show that deserves more attention.
