Raqs E Bismil Episode 23: Zohra Finally Manages to Escape Faizi’s Clutches

“Raqs E Bismi’ started off as a masterpiece in the making, a true depiction of star-crossed lovers, two souls so deeply in love, but from such vastly different backgrounds that they could never meet. However, due to the Pakistani drama curse of TRPs and dragging out episodes unnecessarily, “Raqs E Bismil” has taken a hard hit in terms of criticism, currently going through a severe lagging period. Starring Imran Ashraf and Sarah Khan as Musa and Zohra, the two are supported by a great cast including Momin Saqib, Anoushay Abbasi, Saleem Mairaj, Furqan Qureshi, Zara Sheikh, Nida Mumtaz, Javeria Abbasi and several others. Written by Hashim Nadeem and directed by Wajahat Rauf, “Raqs E Bismil” continues with its storyline post Zohra’s kidnapping.

In episode 23, Meanwhile, Musa (Imran Ashraf) and his friends call a “jirga” with Sheheryar and his brothers, demanding to know where they have hidden Zohra. Sheheryar, of course, denies knowing anything about Laila – which in his defense, he truly does not know about her whereabouts. But hearing about his deal with Leila, his brothers disown him, declaring that they will never see his face again and his wife’s brothers declare his marriage over. Sheheryar’s marriage to Zohra may have been one he hoped to use for business, but it has essentially been the cause of his downfall.

Zohra (Sarah Khan) has now been missing for easily 4 episodes. She is being held captive by Faizi and his wife, who have ulterior motives of extracting money from Laila (Zara Sheikh, murdering Zohra and pinning the murder on Sheheryar (Furqan Qureshi). Faizi’s wife calls Laila and gives her the details for the exchange – Zohra for 5 lakh. Faizi drugs Zohra during this exchange, planning to finish her off after receiving the money. Unfortunately for him and fortunately for viewers, Zohra isn’t as dim as these two have taken her for and while they are making the exchange with Leila, she makes her escape.

Shehnai Episode 16: Bakht Falls Into Hunain’s Trap Once Again

Very little of worth happens in this episode, barring Zohra’s escape. This is now four episodes of slow movement and repetitive episodes, leaving little for viewers to look forward to. Even in the preview for episode 24, we can see that while Faizi has been caught, Zohra is still to remain missing, presumably now gone into hiding, believing that Sheheryar was out to kill her. Whether it’s Imran Ashraf, Sarah Khan, Saleem Mairaj, Furqan Qureshi or Gul E Rana, every actor is doing a wonderful job in their roles. Unfortunately, the grating characters of Tauqeer, Faizi and his wife have taken over the canvas for too many episodes now, bringing down the quality and feel of the entire show. This practice of dragging out shows needlessly needs to stop otherwise there will be few shows left that will be looked back on with fondness.
