Rawalpindi Man Booked For Beating Mother, Twitter Demands Justice After Video Goes Viral

Earlier this week, a viral video took the internet by storm… and rage. It showed a young man, identified as Arsalan Qureshi, brutally beating up his mother while pinning her to the ground. His wife, Bisma stood behind him and watched the scene. Soon after the incident became the talk of the town, social media users demanded justice for victims Zobia Meer (Arsalan’s sister) and their mother. Now, an FIR has been lodged against the Rawalpindi-based man and his spouse. The family feud reportedly broke out over a property and money dispute between them. The hash tag #ZoobiaMeer has been trending high on Twitter after she pleaded for help in another video which surfaced on the net yesterday.

In the video posted on YouTube, Zoobia also mentioned that her brother Arsalan took all their valuables including jewellery and cash before leaving the house. She also accused the police of being complacent and non-cooperative during their time of need. According to a tweet posted on the Rawalpindi police’s account late Tuesday night, Sadiqabad police booked Arsalan and Bisma after City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan took notice of the incident. The couple, however, has not been captured yet. Superintendent of Police (SP) Rawal disclosed that a thorough medical checkup of the aged woman has revealed she was tortured. He also swore to arrest Arsalan.

 

 

 

Netizens cannot help but share their two cents on the unfortunate incident. “Dear #pakistani brothers and sisters. Please raise your voice against these two husband and wife. If you have seen the video you must be aware of what they have done. #zoobiameer and her mother needs justice,” wrote one user. “Respect your Parents. Don’t forget the real meaning of life #zoobiameer,” added another. Many could not believe that a son would have the audacity to raise his hand in front of his mother. “Imagine a woman going through 9 months of discomfort just to give birth to a monster like Arsalan Qureshi who grows up to be an illiterate, abusive man who beats up his mother for the sake of some currency notes. Deepest corners of hell await this culprit,” penned a furious Twitter user.

 

 

 

 

Some could not believe what kind of strange things are happening in this world! “This is happening every other day, We saw a principal rape a kid, A woman being sold and now a mother and her daughter beaten by her own son. We seriously need some Islamic punishments otherwise this will become normal. Please @ImranKhanPTI introduce those laws. #zoobiameer,” read a tweet. Many others also urged the government to take note of the episode. “#zoobiameer and her mother needs help because they are badly beaten by her brother and his wife. They took the money and the property papers and ran away. Please raise your voice against this brutality #pakistan.” One user noted, “Saw the video of son beating mother. Very disappointed and demand a strict response for his action.” A similar post read, “After witnessing whatever is going on these days to the society, Rest in peace Humanity & Best of luck to a little Bit Innocence left!! Today I Believe that Monsters, Beasts etc are Real & Do Exist!”

 

 

 

 

 

Others questioned Arsalan’s morality, adding, “He is worse than animals because even they care for their parents. Beating your mom is not the MAN power. Be a human and voice of #zoobiaameer.” Famous personality Waqar Zaka posted, “You can at least share this mother’s interview if you really care about getting her justice.” A rather heartbroken user wrote something that sparked sympathy amongst all of us. “When a Mother is in Trouble When A sister is in Tears Its obligatory for every Man to Stand by that Mother, Put their hand on the Sister. Take every Step for the Justice for the Mother by the Punishing Culprit in the most merciless way Unable to blink eyes & Unable to wipe tears.”
