Sacred Games co-stars to reunite for a Bollywood film

Good news for fans for Sacred Games, two of the actors from the critically acclaimed web series will now be seen together in a Bollywood film. Award-winning actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and the Iranian beauty Elnaaz Norouzi have been roped in to star opposite each other in Jaideep Chopra’s Sangeen.

Written and directed by Jaideep Chopra, it is jointly produced by Gurjit Singh of GoldenEra films and Ankit Khanna of AK Projekts. The musical score of the movie will be composed by acclaimed music producer, singer-songwriter-rapper Raftaar. Jaideep Chopra who has previously directed critically-acclaimed flicks Maazii, 2016 The End, Life, and Mangalsutra has won numerous awards for his projects, and with two big names from Sacred Games onboard, his film will be one of the most looked forwards ones in 2021.

This is not the first time that the Iranian-born Elnaaz Norouzi is working in a feature film; she made her film debut as the leading lady in the Pakistani film Maan Jao Naa opposite singer-actor Adeel Chaudhry, before she became world-famous as Zoya Mirza in Sacred Games. She is very anxious to reunite with Nawazuddin Siddiqui with whom he had been part of the two seasons of the successful web series and is looking to carry their luck to films as well.

While talking about her upcoming project, Elnaaz said that she is quite excited at the prospect of sharing the screen with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and that too in a Bollywood film. ‘I am so honored and excited to work with Nawazuddin Sir again. Sangeen is an incredible script, something I’ve always and secretly dreamt of as an actor. Looking forward to bringing that complex character to life with Jaideep (Chopra) Sir who has written it so skillfully.’

On the other hand, Nawazuddin Siddiqui also termed the script to be an interesting one and is excited to reteam with her co-star from Sacred Games. ‘Working with the passionate Elnaaz Norouzi after Sacred Games will be more fun. Jaideep’s concept is an experimenting one and I am sure he will do justice with it and together we will be able to discover something new.’

Recently, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was part of not one but two mega projects on Netflix. While Raat Akeli Hai featured him in the role of a cop, Serious Men had him play an astronomer’s assistant who fabricates a story about his son that changes his life forever. One hopes that this film is as good as either of the two movies and helps cinemas survive both in India and abroad.

Sangeen is slated to go on the floors in January next year and would be shot in London and Mumbai, and is expected to be released later in the same year, if Covid-19 permits.
