“Safar Tamam Hua” has made a comeback of sorts in terms of recapturing audience interest. Telling the story of a family of cousins turning against one another after the death of one of their own, “Safar Tamam Hua” was initially plagued by slow storytelling and deeply unlikable characters. However, over the past few weeks, the show has picked up, giving new life to the storyline. Starring Ali Rehman Khan, Madiha Imam, Syed Jibran, Noreen Gulwani, Samina Ahmed, Haaris Waheed, Sonia Nazir, Annie Zaidi and others, the story has been written by Rahat Jabeen and directed by Shehrazade Sheikh.
In episode 18, Nazo (Noreen Gulwani) has returned to the household after being cast out by her mother’s new husband. Realizing she has nowhere else to go, Nazo returns back home with Jamal (Syed Jibran) and apologizes to Anoushay (Madiha Imam) for her behavior. She begins working around the house and attempting to please everyone from Khala (Samina Ahmed) to Anoushay to Sami (Ali Rehman Khan). During this time, Sami and Anoushay’s relationship has also begun to get back to normal, the two acknowledging their care for one another. While Anoushay may not deserve it, it’s still great to see this couple back on track. That, of course, leaves Nazo wondering what to do with her life, particularly after being rejected for a proposal after the potential suitor and his family cast her aside due to her background. She has fixated on Jamal now, realizing that even if he’s a bad man, at least he’s willing to accept her.
There’s an excellent point made by Nazo towards the end of the episode. While Anoushay makes tall claims of self righteousness, which are generally even true, Nazo questions the attitude towards Jamal. Given, Anoushay has every right to be angry with Jamal and she’s right when she is shocked at Nazo’s ability to forgive Jamal after all he has done. However, Nazo rightly points out that she knows Jamal only as well as she knows Anoushay. While Anoushay may be her sister, it’s difficult for Nazo to trust anyone in this house considering they’ve all come into her life at the same time.
It’s also interesting to see Jamal confide in Nazo. It’s beginning to seem as though what began as a game may have actually turned into real affection on Jamal’s part. He has been using Nazo to hurt Anoushay, but his confession to Nazo about Rija’s death comes across as highly out of character for Jaal and even seems genuine. Jamal has always been seen as the “bad guy” (which he has always been, honestly), but this may be the first time someone has actually “seen” him and given him the benefit of doubt. Is this budding relationship with Nazo the positive influence that he needs in his life? And is Jamal the man who will give Nazo a life of love and dignity? This may be a love story to look out for.
Aulaad Episode 29: Nabeel Zuberi Takes Center Stage in His Moment to Shine
Nabeel (Haaris Waheed) and Ayeza (Sonia Nazir) are now expecting a child and with this news, their relationship changes as the two happily await their child. It’s sweet to see this couple together – and yet, jolting because we are aware that Nabeel has a hand in Rija’s murder. How will Nabeel’s secret ultimately come out? Of course, Haaris Waheed, Madiha Imam and Ali Rehman Khan are standing out in their roles, making an impact. Noreen Gulwani is also doing an excellent job as Nazo. She’s a natural actress and the way she plays Nazo as a perfect balance between being shrewd and innocent works in the character’s favor. The story of “Safar Tamam Hua” is very slow-paced, but this drama has picked up a lot in the past few episodes, once again making it a show worth watching.
