Sanam Saeed raises her voice on a number of issues haunting Pakistani society in this day and age

The past few weeks, in fact, 2020 in its entirety has been a sorry and sad state of affairs. As if the Coronavirus pandemic wasn’t enough, Pakistan has had to deal with a myriad of issues and troubles from the torrential rains, a rise in the number of sexual harassment cases, the abduction and rape of a five-year-old girl and most recently the rape of a woman in front of her children on the Lahore motorway as well as an unstable economy. And now, Pemra has placed restrictions on advertising content while the hit TV series, Churails, has been banned from showing in the country.

Ushna Shah and Anoushey Ashraf have been speaking out against animal cruelty in the country and Amna Ilyas has been raising her voice against the use and promotion of fairness creams and the fact that unrealistic beauty standards have become the norm in our society. Sanam Saeed has also taken to social media to raise her voice against a number of issues that our society faces. The Cake actor is rather vocal when it comes to important issues and problems that need a voice and need to be shared on a platform. She has made a number of valid points in the past and her recent tweet too sheds light on the many problems that need to be given attention.

“How about banning whitening creams, how about banning medicines here that are otherwise banned everywhere else. How about banning caning in schools. How about banning the two finger test. How about banning rapists from getting out on bail. How about banning taxes on sanitary napkins,” she wrote on Twitter. Sanam Saeed has made a number of valid and fair points in just one tweet and went on to add, “The list can go on. How can we help better educate each other and move forward as a nation instead of stuck in this confused and hypocritical system?’ she questioned.

We can’t help but agree with all the points that Sanam Saeed has made in her argument. A number of netizens commented on her tweet, with most in agreement with what she had to say. “These are all changes that will sadly remain within the realm of a utopian fantasy for our country whilst progressive nations live these ideologies as part of their everyday reality. *heavy sigh* our people, on the other hand, create realities akin to the most bizarre nightmares!” wrote one user.

Another took to Twitter and wrote, “This is what happens when a country is formed in the name of religion. We will always be blackmailed by religious fanatics.”

Sanam Saeed is not the only celebrity who has spoken out on all the aforementioned issues and a number of celebrities have also taken to social media to raise their voices against issues that are a cause for concern for society.

We can only hope that by raising their voices some change will come.
