Shahid Afridi, Wife Celebrate ’20 years Of Marital Bliss’

Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi may be popular for his stellar sportsmanship, but his personal life equally grabs the spotlight from time to time. Not too long ago, he announced the birth of his fifth daughter with his spouse Nadia Afridi. The couple recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary together, pictures of which were posted on Instagram by Shahid himself. Sharing a heartfelt message for his ladylove, the ace cricketing legend took to the photo-sharing platform and wrote, “Today marks 20 years of marital bliss. Alhamdulillah blessed to have a life partner so caring, understanding and a wonderful mother to our children.”

He continued, “Despite me forgetting our anniversary today, she still forgave me; another one of her beautiful qualities.” Afridi is married to his maternal cousin. The duo has five daughters, namely Aqsa, Ansha, Ajwa, Asmara and Arwa. Earlier, when the retired Pakistani all-rounder announced the arrival of their fifth baby, Afridi tweeted, “The Almighty’s infinite blessings & mercy are upon me… already having been granted 4 wonderful daughters I have now been blessed with a 5th, Alhamdulillah. Sharing this good news with my well-wishers.”

Last year, Afridi had stirred a controversy with the comments he made about his daughters playing outdoor sports. The ex-Pakistan captain revealed that he did not permit his daughters from playing cricket or any other sport due to ‘social and religious reasons’. He said, “Feminists can say whatever they want about my decision,” adding, “They have my permission to play any sport, as long as they’re indoors. Cricket? No, not for my girls. They have permission to play all the indoor games they want, but my daughters are not going to be competing in public sporting activities.” Afridi has a massive fan following, locally and globally. He is also known for his charity work.
