Sinf E Aahan Episode 9: Mahjabeen and Pariwesh’s Growing Bond Is Cause To Smile

“Sinf E Aahan” is a show the Pakistani drama audience waits for each week, a star-studded show with many popular faces and an interesting story.  A female-oriented show written by Umera Ahmed, “Sinf E Aahan” has been directed by Nadeem Baig and stars Sajal Aly, Yumna Zaidi, Kubra Khan, Ramsha Khan, Syra Yousef, Yehali Kaildasa, Dananeer Mobeen, Sheheryar Munawar, Sonia Mishal, Saba Hameed, Usman Peerzada, Ali Rehman Khan, Usman Mukhtar, Asad Siddiqui, Asim Azhar and others.

Episode 9 is an overall dull episode, unfortunately.  The pace has slowed down and while there are many stories yet to be told, particularly the one focusing on Nathmy (Yehali Kalidasa), the narrative continues to heavily emphasize the physical exhaustion of the girls.  And while this is a large part of being in the army and is obviously important, we would like to see a bit more as well.  There are some cute scenes in this episode with Nathmy and Aarzoo (Syra Yousef) bonding, along with Sidra (Dananeer Mobeen) and her roommate.  But in an otherwise slow episode, the highlight is the relationship between Mahjabeen (Kubra Khan) and Pariwesh (Ramsha Khan).  Their relationship got off to a rocky start with Pariwesh staunchly against Mahjabeen in light of Mahjabeen’s feud with Rabia (Sajal Aly) and Pariwesh’ loyalty to Rabia.  And yet, now with Pariwesh and Mahjabeen sharing a room, their bond is slowly changing and we witness the growth from enemies to roommates to the beginning signs of friendship by the end of the episode.  And what’s most important to note in all this is Mahjabeen’s helpful nature – whether with Shaista (Yumna Zaidi) early on or now with Pariwesh, Mahjabeen is kind at heart.  Opposite to this is Rabia’s selfish, slightly rude, competitive nature which is evident not only in her attitude towards Shaista in this episode, but also towards Nathmy after she comes first while running and, later, even Pariwesh, a girl she considers a friend.  Watching this, it’s becoming clear that Rabia may be the one at fault in the feud with Mahjabeen.  But when will the truth be revealed?

Major Usama’s (Sheheryar Munawar) marriage seems to be one riddled with conflict, his wife Kiran (Sonia Mishal) always serious and slightly tense around him.  In this episode, we are given a slight window into why.  Unfortunately, though they are given ample screen time in this episode, much of it is taken up with a ridiculous excuse for “story time” with their daughter.  Why do parents in Pakistani dramas tell the worst stories?  All that aside, Kiran is seen reminiscing about her romance with someone else at PMA and we are left to assume Kiran was engaged to Major Usama’s best friend.  How did she wind up married to Major Usama and how long have the two been married…..and why is their relationship still so tense?

There aren’t any specific performances worthy of praise as everyone is doing a wonderful job.  Still, in this episode, it’s Kubra Khan, Ramsha Khan, Syra Yousef and Dananeer Mobeen who shine bright and steal the show, along with Sheheryar Munawar.  Each actress is doing a brilliant job.  Still, we can hope upcoming episodes pick up in pace and deliver on story as well.
