Suhana Khan Slams Conventional Beauty Standards In Latest Post

It is not uncommon for a girl to be ridiculed over her physical appearance, skin colour and height in desi societies. What most people do not understand is that being fair-skinned does not define beauty. Everyone is beautiful in their own unique way. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter, Suhana has now grabbed eyeballs following a recent post she uploaded regarding the pre-conceived notions of beauty standards in conventional, brown communities. Speaking from her personal experience, the star kid weighed in on how she has had insensitive remarks hurled at her and been a victim of body shaming. Here is what she had to say to her followers!

Posting a picture of herself smiling from ear to ear, she captioned the post, “There is a lot going on right now and this is one of the issues we need to fix! This isn’t just about me, it’s about every young girl/boy who has grown up feeling inferior for absolutely no reason.” But if we were to make a judgement, we cannot stop swooning over her picture-perfect tan, toned arms and cutest dimple in the image she posted!

Suhana continued, “Here are just a few of the comments made about my appearance. I’ve been told I’m ugly because of my skin tone, by full grown men and women, since I was 12 years old. Other than the fact that these are actual adults, what’s sad is that we are all Indian, which automatically makes us brown – yes we come in different shades but no matter how much you try to distance yourself from the melanin, you just can’t. Hating on your own people just means that you are painfully insecure.” Calling out the funny yet controversial show Indian Matchmaking too, Suhana noted, “I’m sorry if social media, Indian matchmaking or even your own families have convinced you, that if you’re not 5″7 and fair you’re not beautiful. I hope it helps to know that I’m 5″3 and brown and I am extremely happy about it and you should be too. #endcolourism.” A powerful message and we could not agree more!
