Sukoon Episode 37: Ahsan Khan and Sana Javed’s Chemistry is The Highlight Of This Romance

“Sukoon” is a success in all regards, earning high TRPs and raking in over 1 million views within 9 hours of an upload on YouTube.  However, what is it that amounts to success in the long run?  It’s the content that determines whether a show will be remembered years down the line or if we, as an audience, will dispose of it from our memories only weeks after it concludes.  “Sukoon” is an enjoyable show to watch, but generally lacks good writing and likable characters to make this a memorable drama.  Starring Ahsan Khan, Sana Javed, Khaqan Shahnawaz, Qudsia Ali, Sidra Niazi, Usman Peerzada, Adnan Samad Khan, Ahsan Talish, Laila Wasti and others in prominent roles, the story has been written by Misbah Nausheen and directed by Siraj Ul Haq.

In episode 37, Hamdan (Ahsan Khan) has broken off his engagement with Guriya (Sidra Niazi), quite literally giving her his ring on the side of the road, and has cut off all communication with her family. Meanwhile, Hamdan has opened his eyes to his feelings for Aina (Sana Javed) and even confesses those feelings to Aina – but is met with an interesting (and irritating) reaction.  Aina is married to Hamdan, but hasn’t accepted the relationship nor does she have any faith in love.  She asks Hamdan to stop discussing this matter with her and pushes him to fix his relationship with Guriya.  Unfortunately for all three, Guriya shows up at Hamdan’s door to apologize and comes face to face with Aina.

The way Hamdan has been written is odd to say the least.  He is a character who is supposed to be our stellar, upright, “solid” young man, but if we change perspectives, he’s almost a villain.  Hamdan was forced into a relationship with Guriya, a woman he saw as more of a sister than a romantic interest – but he did little to protest or clarify his reasons for not wanting to marry her.  Guriya, on her part, is a perfectly sweet character who has done everything in her power to fit into Hamdan’s mold of a wife and has defended his choices to her own family.  There’s little to dislike about Guriya except the fact that she lacks self respect.  The lies and deception that Hamdan and Aina are taking part in make them appear negative despite being the leads.  Sneaking around and denying a marriage is unnecessary in this storyline and this is where bad writing comes into play.  The storyline following Qudsia Ali and Adnan Samad Khan is far more intriguing of a storyline at this point.  Quite honestly, the highlight of “Sukoon” is the chemistry between Ahsan Khan and Sana Javed in their roles.  The two look great together and are the reason for the audience continuously coming back.
