Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case: Rhea Chakraborty Arrested By Narcotics Control Bureau

Rhea Chakraborty’s name has been in the headlines ever since the passing of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June this year. From the latter’s father filing an FIR against Rhea to her being slammed for stealing valuables from Sushant’s home, a string of accusations have been levelled against her. For the unversed, Rhea and Sushant were a couple back in the day but his family supposedly never approved of their relationship. While she has been clicked by the paparazzi during the multiple times she has been called in for investigation in Sushant’s death case, Rhea has now been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

The Bollywood actor was arrested for her alleged involvement in supplying drugs to Sushant as well as consuming them herself. She has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Rhea, who has pleaded innocent, underwent a compulsory medical test at the Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s LTMG Sion Hospital. Reacting to her arrest, Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde said, “Three central agencies hounding a single woman just because she was in love with a drug addict, suffering from mental health issues for several years under the care of five leading psychiatrists in Mumbai, who ended up committing suicide due to consumption of illegally administered medicines and used drugs.”

Rhea’s arrest comes a day after she filed a police complaint against Sushant’s sister Priyanka Singh and Dr Tarun Kumar of RML Hospital in New Delhi for apparently forging medical prescriptions. A Mumbai Police spokesperson said that the complaint has been lodged with Bandra Police under the Indian Penal Code and the NDPS Act, and in line with the Supreme Court orders, the case has been transferred to the CBI for investigation. Four days ago, Rhea’s brother Showik Chakraborty, Sushant’s home manager Samuel Miranda, and his house helper Dipesh Sawant were arrested and sent in NCB custody besides two other drug peddlers Abdel Basit Parihar and Zaid Vilatra, who are also currently in NCB custody.
