Tanaa Banaa Episode 23: Zain’s Resentment Towards Zoya Begins to Show

“Tanaa Banaa” follows the lives of two young individuals as they begin their lives together, tied together in marriage. The show is not only about young relationships, but also about arranged marriage and how two individuals get to know one another after marriage. Starring Daniyal Zafar, Alizeh Shah, Javeria Abbasi, Komal Rizvi, Ismat Zaidi, Hassan Noman, Aamir Qureshi and others. The story has been written by Hassaan Imam and directed by Saife Hassan

Episode 23 sees the return of Zain’s parents and Daadi from Umrah, along with a surprise – Zoya’s mother. While everyone in the household is more than pleased with Zoya and sing her praises, her mother does pick up on the tension between Zoya and Zain. However, the two present a united front and brush away her worries. Zain genuinely does everything he can to please Zoya, including serenading her with a song – but Zoya quickly sets him straight that she’s still angry and is only putting on appearances for her mother. Later, things escalate when Zoya reveals the details of the car episode to Fauzia (Javeria Abbasi). Things only worsen when Zain refuses to pay Zoya’s fees until she speaks kindly to him (not a difficult request). Zoya asks her father-in-law for money and explains why, essentially turning the entire household against Zain.

At this point, Zoya’s actions are no longer justified. If anything, she is coming across as a self-entitled and incapable of examining her own faults. While Zoya may have succeeded in making her in-laws happy, she has completely neglected her husband in the process – essentially ruining his impression while improving her own on his dime. While showering loved ones with appreciation through gifts and trips is a grand, lovable gesture, what about those who only ask for love and appreciation? Zain has been bending over backwards for Zoya’s happiness, doing everything in his power to make their joint family situation easy for her, cooking on her behalf and going so far as to even complete her assignments for her. This is more than any woman could ask of in a husband. However, what is Zain getting in return? Sure, Zoya has been showering her in-law with love and appreciation, but where does her husband fit into all of this?

Dunk Episode 20: Amal’s Latest Plan Robs Haider of His Credibility

“Tanaa Banaa” has been an excellent presentation of young marriage and how the arranged marriage system works, particularly living in a joint family. Zain and Zoya are two very different individuals with different ways of thinking, but are tweaking their lives to suit each other – which is essentially what marriage is all about, accommodating the other person into your life. Daniyal Zafar is wonderful as Zain, an absolute natural. One actually can’t believe this is his first show. Alizeh Shah is great as Zoya too, playing the modern, educated (bratty) woman well. Quite honestly, the entire supporting cast plays a heavy hand in how natural and sweet the show comes across. With only seven episodes to go, one can only hope things wrap up in a satisfactory manner.
