The Guy Who Cooks: How Ahsan Irshad Turned His Culinary Dream Into A Reality

Many a times we come across stories which are inspiring and worth talking about. Most success tales stem from a great amount of sweat, tears, hard work and perseverance. It is tough to start from scratch and climb your way up the ladder no matter what your vision may be. And while it probably was no easy feat for YouTuber Ahsan Irshad – an Islamabad-based aspiring chef – either, he is now on the way to turning his dreams into reality. Irshad’s Instagram profile @daguywhocooks has grabbed eyeballs in the recent past, with him being featured on BBC Urdu, Dawn, Geo, Hum and ARY News too. The go-getter has now posted a sneak peak of his upcoming project – a mini café he has surely put his heart and soul into.

“First sneak peak of cafe the guy who cooks. This is what I have been working day and night. Official launch in October IA,” he posted on the micro-blogging site Twitter. Sharing his story about where he started off from, Irshad wrote, “As the opening of my cafe is around the corner, I couldn’t help but look back at the days when I started this journey. What you see didn’t happen in a single night. It took me years, most of you don’t know but now I feel like you all should know that i started this journey with an outdoor stall.”

He continued, “There was no shop, just one tarpal on top, table and grill. It was very rough. It was a real struggle and now when I look back, I only thank Allah for his countless blessings. I am not sharing this story and pictures for some social media clout but as a motivation to all those who are struggling with their goals and passion. For the love of passion, you have to do anything, never be afraid of doing anything, don’t feel ashamed even if you have to start from zero.”

Irshad recalled the times he would look at the owners of big shops in awe and hope to be in their place one day. He concluded with, “When I was running my stall, I used to look at the shops in awe and think that one day I’ll be there IA. Now I am here Alhamdulillah. This is my journey. Let this story be one of hope, courage and motivation for you all who are struggling in your life, career and job. Much love for you all. Just remember, hardwork, positivity and good thinking (naik niyat) is the key to success.”
