These dreamy vacation spots are on our bucket list as soon as the pandemic is over

Being in the midst of summer, this would usually be the time many of us would be taking a vacation, heading to dreamy destinations with sandy beaches, clear blue waters, good food and not a care in the world. The global pandemic however, changed everything for most of us this year. We’ve had to social distance, work from home and be confined to our homes. The thought of travelling now has the ability to make one anxious and many countries around the world now have restrictions on who can enter and which airlines can enter their space.

A dreamy holiday without the fear of contracting the virus is something we can only dream of but we must remain hopeful and tell ourselves that better days are coming. In hope of being able to travel soon enough, we’ve put together some fabulous destinations we’re adding to our bucket list for when the pandemic is over. Where will you go first?

Marrakech, Morocco

There is a reason Morocco is known as the jewel of Africa. Morocco is influenced by European, Berber and Arabian culture. Marrakech is the city known for its lively character and energetic vibe, while also being home to numerous markets, souks, palaces, mosques and gardens. The city is also full of ancient history and makes for the perfect destination if you’re in the mood to explore, sight see and take in a whole load of culture. The people are friendly and the sights astounding. Marrakech is also home to Jardin Majorelle, a botanical garden which was restored by designer Yves Saint Laurent.

Valletta, Malta

Malta is a small group of islands that come with a remarkable history. From its stunning cliffs, lively people, delicious food and clear blue waters, it’s the place to be. The coastline is lined with fisher boats, sail boats and yachts and you can take your pick whenever you want to take a ride. Traditional Maltese food is a blend of Sicilian and Middle Eastern flavours and can be enjoyed at any local cafe with a breath taking view. Malta is also known for its contemporary design and architecture and makes for the perfect getaway if you want to relax and take in the stunning architecture.

If you’re a lover of all things nature then Slovenia may be for you. It is recognised by the European Commission as one of the best sustainable tourism destinations in Europe and some would even go as far as calling it heaven on Earth. The destination is great for those who want to trek, explore and have an active getaway. Slovenia is truly a destination that will give you an experience and the perfect getaway if you’re a nature lover.

Tbilisi, Georgia

As far as statistics have shown, Tbilisi remains one of the most unaffected by the Coronavirus making it one of the safest places to travel to. The city is an amalgamation of past, present and future and an ideal destination for architecture fiends and food lovers. Food varieties are diverse and it is likely that you will have one of the best vacations once you venture into the heart of the city. The country also has a mild winter, making it the perfect destination to visit at any time during the year.

Zagreb, Croatia

Zagreb is the perfect city break if you’re looking to be in a city landscape as opposed to sandy beaches and the ocean waves. It is a destination recognised for its markets and romantic charm. The laid back vibe of the city means you can sit at a terraced cafe with a book for hours on end and watch the world go by. Or take a walk through the cobbled alleyways and explore the architectural wonders and historical sites. They all make for very Instagram worthy content too!
