This chai-flavoured ice cream and paratha concoction has the internet divided

We’re a nation of foodies and we love to eat till our heart’s content. We love experimenting with food fusion and we love to try everything and anything. There are a number of food items that work wonders with our desi food palette while others may not go down too well. Experimental food fusions can also be a hit or a miss and always make for a great conversation on social media. A number of combinations of food items go viral on social media and an amalgamation of two dishes can become a big hit or miss.

And now, there’s one food combination that is going viral on social media and has become the talk of the town. If you haven’t heard, some genius has put together a combination of spiced chai ice cream being served in a paratha cone. You heard correctly!

“Chai paratha reimagined, spiced doodh patti ice cream with sugar-laced paratha,” wrote Twitter user Owais Siddiqui and shared two images of the dish. You can check it out here:

As soon as the Twitter user shared the images on social media, it led to a conversation leaving the internet divided. “This sounds genius,” one user wrote, while another was shocked at the combo and said, “This paratha is really sad looking. And combination is a big no.”

Of course there were a number of varying opinions which were circulating on social media and while we are yet to try the combination, we have to say, it is definitely something we would try at least once. We rounded some of the opinions that were making rounds on social media.

“No. No. No. No. This is wrong. Totally totally wrong. You can’t. Paratha and ice cream don’t mix. No. Never. Kabhi nahin. Pakki katti!!!”

Owais Siddiqui, the one who came up with this amalgamation went on to explain that it was not just an average paratha. “In my defense, the parhatta is laced with sugar, it melts on the tawa and crisps up when cooled. I just wanted to recreate the texture of a waffle cone. But thanks for your take,” he wrote.

Some netizens genuinely appreciated the combination and had some very serious questions about it.“Nice. Great idea. How did you ensure the pratha kept the folded shape?” questioned one user.

“I would love to give it a try. I mean sweet paratha with ice cream, worth a try,” another user said in appreciation of the combo.

There were also some netizens who were left slightly confused with the concoction and had questions about exactly how it would work. For example, one user questioned, “this sounds very good but what does ”spiced” doodh patti mean?

“I’m curious, how long does the paratha hold it? did you make it extra crispy? Questioned another curious foodie.

After the concoction left the internet divided, others also came forward with other combinations they had tried. “Try meetha paratha with achaar sometimes and thank me later,” stated one suggestion.

“Hate me but I have tried paratha with Rabri, chilled mangoes, fresh cream, peanut butter, jam, nutella etc ps: paratha is good with everything.”
