Three classic prints that will never go out of style

The Coronavirus pandemic affected every business, every industry; even fashion. With that being said, it is pertinent to note that it is also an important time for fashion due to the shift it is currently going through. With the lack of fashion shows and reduced mobility to go out and shop, brands have moved towards seasonless collections. More and more brands are adopting sustainable practices as more of us are adopting a cleaner and more sustainable way of life.

As the pandemic forced us into our homes, with many of us working from home and social distancing, we ditched the jeans and shirts and opted for pj’s, loungewear and linens. The fashion industry was fast to adapt to what the consumer wanted and now almost every brand is offering clothing items that are more wearable at home, yet chic enough to be seen on a Zoom video call. Part of having a seasonless wardrobe means having prints that are wearable despite the season, on repeat. And so, we rounded up three prints that we think will never go out of style.

  1. Polka Dots

Polka dots is one of our favourite prints and brings with it so much versatility. It can be worn in classic colours or a bold palette and can be styled in a variety of ways. While there are some who argue that it can’t be worn for every occasion, we beg to differ. We certainly think that polka dots can be worn anywhere and at any given time. Big bold polka dots can be sported during the day adorned on a summer dress or shirt and teamed with a pair of jeans or a plain tee. Alternatively, a smaller polka dot print can be worn for a nice dinner or a night out. Team your print with some faux leather or a glitzy skirt and you’ll have eyes on your dotted print all night long.

  1. Stripes

Stripes are a print that isn’t about to go anywhere, any time soon. It has been part of pretty much every designer’s catwalk show and has been worn by a number of celebrities, the likes of Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Hailey Beieber and even the Duchess of Cambridge. This print has been trending time and time again and we’re happy to say that it is here to stay. Stripes are a flattering print for any body type and height. They can be worn with western attire or desi attire; think a pinstriped suit or a striped sari. Stripes are also desirable on vacation, especially when your print comes in candy colours and bold hues. Stripes have been able to transcend with ease, unlike many other trends, from one season to the next. There’s no better way to make a statement than in bold stripes and you’ll definitely be raising your style quotient by opting for this print!

  1. Florals

The oh-so feminine print! This print is another that is oh so versatile and can be styled in a number of ways. There is a misconception that the floral print can be worn only in the summer and we don’t think so at all. The floral print is one that can be worn all year round in different ways to suit the season. We’ve seen floral prints adorned all over summer dresses, palazzo pants, button down shirts and now more commonly on lenghas and desi attire. Many Bollywood celebrities have opted for florals in their outfits, including the likes of Anushka Sharma who was clad in a floral lengha choli for her wedding day. Designers too are now incorporating florals in most of their collections, be it for the summer or winter.
